Great tool, fairly easy to use
I bought the sharpener to get a better edge on my cooking knives which I thought I kept fairly sharp. Little did I know....Pros:1. The stone is fairly easy to use. Follow the instructions in the downloaded booklet and you'll be on your way. Don't overthink it - the trick for me was to focus on the stroke "muscle memory" so I could consistently sharpen in both directions. Keep sprinkling water on the stone as you work.2. The stone does a good job of sharpening. I didn't think the knives were all that sharp because I am used to feeling the burr from my electric sharpener. Then I cut a tomato. Wow - much sharper. The rough burr wasn't there.Cons:1. The rubber holder can slip on the counter when it is wet.2. The guide scratched my knife blade. Next time I'll use my finger under the spine of the knife instead to keep a consistent angle.Next challenge: figuring out how to do the entire edge of the knife from the tip to the bolster with each stroke instead of doing it in sections. More muscle memory....

Amazing quality for price
I usually do a lot of research whenever I am buying something and buying a sharpening stone, wet stone, was no different. I saw a lot of other wet stone sets that contained stones with 400 grit through 8000 grit that were equal of lower in price but I wanted quality since I value the knives I have and plan to invest in other quality knives. I chose the Mikarto 1000/6000 set because everything I read it seemed to be quality. I must say so far I am very pleased in just opening the packaging and reading the welcome pamphlet. It sounds as if the company all the way up to James Denham, the CEO, really care about their product and their customers. The instructions for care and use are not what you typically see with products from other countries, they are well written and easy to understand. The documentation in side the box really makes you feel like you are dealing with a quality company. I will write another review after using the product for a while.

Good product for the price
Small chip in flattering stone upon arrival as it was not secure the packaging. The 1000/6000 stone in the product was packaged well and intact. The stone functioned well and was able to sharpen two really dull knives (so far) and return a really nice edge to them with just the 1000grit stone (able to remove the burr and hone without a strop). The rubber feet are a little small which allows the base to slide some when sharpening and the table becomes wet. This is easily solved by the use of a towel underneath. I do like the construction of the base. It seems sturdy and fits the stone snuggly with the provided rubber gaskets. The instruction guide was easily obtained by going on line with some good tips, although, I think searching on YouTube provided better instructions/demonstrations. The angle guide I didn’t find particularly helpful, but some people may. This was my first purchase of a whetstone and with a little research and a little practice, I was up and running in no time. Overall, I find this to be a very good product for the price (although, a lot of the stones seem identical on Amazon regardless of the manufacturer, so you may be able to get one cheaper) and it suits my needs. I would definitely. buy again.

If you don’t have a stone get one
I always thought our knifes are sharp but I found out that their not. The steel and plastic knife sharpener are ok when your knife is already sharp, but to get them to that point only with a wet stone If you don’t have a stone you should get one and take the time to sharpen your knifes. It is a complete different sharp what your used to out of the store. It will a take a little to get used to and you will find your own way to sharpen your knifes but you will be satisfied at the end result. I started with my filet knifes and got our kitchen knifes, to the point where it cuts through most of it like butter. What destroys every knife is the dishwasher. so if you sharpen your knife, don’t put it in the dishwasher for any reason clean it by hand, god bless

High Quality DUAL GRAIN Wet Stone! Won’t break the bank!
Purchased this as gift for my partner as he loves to sharpen his Global chefs knife every so often. Compared to similarly priced & quality wet stones, I feel these are the better ones of the options available. Comes in great packaging adding to the overall experience. Double sided with a course and fine side based on the model / Grain you select. Also comes with a black plastic / silicone base holder to place & elevate the stone while sharpening. Also allows the stone to breathe at the bottom since it’s meant to be used wet hence the name 😅LOL. Nice touch! Looks & feels high quality. Will definitely be purchasing more to complete the set. Great choice if you dont want to break the bank but also looking for high quality stone for your high quality knifes.

Keep your knives longer
The media could not be loaded. Received my stone knife sharpener today and could not wait to pull it out of the box. I had a couple dull knives laying around and now I only have one. Using the product takes a little practice to get the motion and angle correct. The product itself is of good quality, its dual sided for two different grit counts (1,000 and 6,000). Instructions for use are on the back of the box, which is a huge help for beginners like me. I took time to sharpen one of my knives and the stone block did well, but I feel it will do much better and faster one I get the hang of how to use. A staple for every kitchen with knives.

5 starsI love the sharpening stone
This is an excellent stone for sharpening any knife especially given it has the two sides (1000 and 6000) so it’s basically 2 stones in one which cleaned up the dull edge of my favourite knife in no time. The knife guide takes all the guessing out of trying to work out the correct angle which I needed. The other thing about the Mikarto whetstone kit is the base which doubles up as the storage for the angle guide and fixing stone so you don’t loose them when stored away and also has a the rubber feet to stop it moving when being used no. I think it’s a bargain for the price especially with the amazing packaging which makes it perfect for a gift for anyone that likes cooking and loves their knives. Highly Recommend!
