powerful enough for a wok
Update:It is wonderful for the hotpot meal. Even with a large donabe, it can bring it to a rolling boil very quickly and the valve response is very precise when needed to turn it down for a simmer.I also checked the CO meter in the dinning room. I didn’t even do anything special to improve the ventilation in the room and the meter read zero after we haves used it for two hours.——-original review———I have alway had this type of portable stoves at home for shabu shabu (hotpot). I recently had a reason to make stir fry with a wok away from home so I got this.At 15K BTU/hr, it is comparable in output to a gas stove top and I can verify this. The roaring burner took 20 seconds to get a 14" thin walled wok smoking hot. I just tested it by making a very large portion (about 3 qt) of fried rice and it worked fine. After about 10 minutes at full power with a wok on it, its body was warm to the touch. Not catastrophically hot like some reviewers stated. I can see that happening when the flame was confined like putting on a very large pot over it as steel body has an integrated wind screen all around the top. Anyhow, this is my guess.I tried it with 4 brands of fuel canisters. The Iwatani, Coleman, and one random brand from a local Asian grocery shop worked just fine. However, canisters from one brand I got from H-Mart did not work. The magnetic coupler won't open the value. I guest this brand is just out of spec.I also like the removable grate which is held down with metal clips as I could replace it with a cast iron wok ring when needed. The build quality is better than those I got from H-Mart and the stainless steel construction is nice but this Iwantani costs 4 times as much. The only criticism I have is its slippery plastic legs. I had to place a wooden board underneath to keep it from sliding. The cheaper ones I have all have rubber feet.I am very happy with this purchase.

Small gas stove packs a good punch.
Love this gas stove. It’s small, and very hot, for it’s size (15000 BTU). It’s very easy to operate, and clean. I can easily regulate the heat, or turn the heat completely off, if my wok gets too hot. Then I just turn the gas on again when I need crazy heat once more. The only downside in my opinion is the plastic feet that is quite slippery. If you put the gas stove on a hard and even surface like a table, it will easily move around if nudged. If I were to move my wok a bit and nudge the “wok stand” the gas stove will move. The gas stove should have rubber pads on the feet of the burner to make it more difficult to move. Instead I’m in the process of making a “plate” of cork, that the gas burner will stand on. This “plate” will hopefully prevent the gas burner from moving too much when using it with my wok. The plastic feet is my only complaint. Other than that, the gas stove is absolutely great, and has become my favorite tool when frying, cooking, and using a wok. It’s much more effective than an electronic hot plate. Also, I can take it with me, if I would like to cook someplace else, go car camping, or what ever. I highly recommend this gas stove. It’s awesome, and well worth the price.

Very well made & easy to use.
This model has some great reviews. I use it indoors and it works great. Burner control makes it easy for fast heating & low simmer too.

Great Product!!!
Man I really love this unit so well made with a tone of great features found only on this and few other units. I got to admit I was on the fence for the price of this unit it abit pricey for those who just want a burner you can always buy cheaper ones I chose to buy for the long haul I'd rather spend money on a product that's going to last you a good life time of use. This unit is just plain powerful first its not really 15,000 btu it's actually 14,000 still it's super powerful when it comes on like having a torch to the bottom of a pot. This unit comes with a couple really neat and great safety features like a brass burner with igniter it also has a fuel canister warmer for outdoors when it gets cold and stops the fuel delivery while in use, I like the fact when you insert the can you hear a click with magnetic catch system unique to only this brand plus the inline safety which shuts down your burner if there is every a leak anywhere from the fuel canister to the burner as for the wind shroud I haven't had a chance to test it yet and couldn't tell if it works or not but as for other use I have cooked hot pot meals and bbq on this with an additional bbq attachment both worked out great. Bottom line this is a great product well worth the money I'm happy this unit is very well built and Made in Japan and not in china I highly recommand it as for me where I live I can get four 8 oz butane cans for about $5 most asian supermarkets sells them.

great van-camping stove
Great, simple to use, little stove. Used it inside my van (window cracked for ventilation) sitting on a cooler and outside at campsites on picnic tables. It puts out a lot of heat and boils water FAST. Flame is adjustable for all kinds of cooking. It was cold and windy outside, so I used the plastic carry case as a V-shaped wind break and that worked well. The case is a bit flimsy, but I'm treating it gently so it will hopefully last a long time. I like how easy it is to put the butane canister in with the magnet locking it in place, and easy to take it out (let it cool first). Stores easily in the case and doesn't take up much space. I put the butane and a spare bottle in the pocket on the van door, but cooked several times and never needed the spare.
