Easy to use.
This is the second Microplane spice grinder I have purchased. I just used the first one for grinding peppercorn's, was pleased with how easy it was to use that I decided to get this one for grinding spices. I would recommend this item, and am happy with the price.

Best nutmeg grinder
I am really impressed with this item. It grinds very well and really easy to use!

Ideal for nutmeg
No more grated fingertips and left-over, too small to grate, chunk of the nutmeg! Quicker and easier to use than a normal nutmeg grater. Not much residue in the machine after grating so it could probably be used to grate something else (Tonka bean?) without a lot of cleaning.

Seriously good
As someone else here says, you can't beat freshly grated nutmeg. Dishes like Beef Stroganoff, Cauliflower Cheese and fruit crumbles aren't quite the same without it.Sometime about 20 or 30 years ago, I bought the kind of nutmeg grater that's available on Amazon for about half the price of this one - clear plastic with a spring-based way of squeezing the nutmeg against a cutting edge, and a turning handle. It did a pretty good job, but eventually wore out, and getting something out of the last 20% or so of each nutmeg wasn't easy. Eventually the top end succumbed to the pressure involved in the design. I can't promise that this one will last as long, but when it arrived, the tail end shreds of a nutmeg were put in from the old one, and were processed perfectly. It also stores the whole content of one bottle of Schwarz nutmegs for future use.

Brilliant
Don’t know why I struggled with an ordinary grater for so long. This is so easy to use.

Expensive but worth it
I had a cheap metal nutmeg grater for about 20 years, which finally broke. I was going to buy another the same, but reviews put me off - the storage chamber was not big enough. My eye was caught by this one which can store 6 nuts or so, while grating one smoothly and with ease - and better still, I avoid scraping my fingertips! It was reduced in price, so I felt it was good value for money. The black part has a wonderful tactile quality and the metal top is not shiny so easy to keep looking good.

Perfetto

Difficult to clean
It is difficult to clean. The grinding is medium coarse which is not necessarily bad but it would have been better if it was adjustable. Also it is difficult to get all the spice out; if you are grinding small quantities that lead to some wasted product.
