Heavy duty
My husband loved it. He usually uses brick wrapped up in aluminum. Now he's happy with this heavy duty item. It does the job well. Glad I got the bigger size.

Slight Learning Curve - Good Item
I read the reviews and some are concerned about the non-stick coating. I don't know how to access that. However, I will state that this item works very well for bacon. That's why I purchased it and have used it several times for this purpose. I noticed that water gets trapped under the press around the bacon. (The bacon is not frozen) So when I lift it to flip the bacon I use a paper towel placed beside the pan to let it drip off the press. After two tries I'm becoming an expert! :) I subtracted one star for sturdiness. I'm not a fan of how the wooden handle is attached with one screw on each side. During the cleaning process I feel the wood handle shift every time. I suspect that it will become an issue after multiple uses.

Great weight
Perfect with one caveat, it's only good on a flatop grill! They should make them round to fit round frying pans

Large size, heavy weight grill press with nonstick coating
I got this press to use when griddling bacon and making paninis. The plate itself is pretty thick steel and nice and heavy. It should be heavy enought to press and hold most items flat on a griddle. It has a nonstick coating. I'm not sure what type of coating it is but looks similar to the old teflon or silverstone coatings but I am just guessing at that. I have mixed feeling about the coating. On the plus side it cleans up very easily. I used it to cook bacon and any mess just wiped right off. On the minus side I am afraid that this coating may come off with lots of use but only time will tell. Also I would like to preheat this press to a high temp when making paninis but don't think that is a good idea with the nonstick coating.Another plus overall is the size of the press. It was wide enough to press five slices of bacon. I can see this getting regular use for my griddle cooks.
