The Bizarre and Incredible World of Plants Paperback – September 6, 2012

Beautiful images, but as others have said, it is very frustrating to try to figure out the species depicted on any given page. Index is terribly organized. But, I bought this for my boyfriend to use as drawing/painting inspiration, and he doesn't care about plant names like I do (plant ecologist).

The photos are exceptional. Really makes these things interesting to anyone, but it makes it really difficult to take that curiosity anywhere when any and all information about the picture is buried in a wall of text at the end of the book. Why couldn't they put ten words the size of a couple postage stamps right next to the images?

Oh this is so frustrating. There are stunning photographs throughout - but nothing is identified! You have to turn to the back of the book in order to find its name. Good luck trying to find it. You'll need sufficient light and a magnifying glass. Why in the world would they print the most important information with tiny white letters on a glossy black background? This book could have been - SHOULD have been a great resource and reference. But it turned out to be another anti-intellectual coffee-table book. "Look at the pretty pictures, Mommy!" Form over function. So much beautiful work squandered because of some ignorant publisher's yearning to be "stylish". And to top it off, the glue in the binding is failing.

A beautiful book full of fascinating photographs which have been coloured to enhance the textures. I'm using it as an inspiration and guide for my fibre art work. I had no problems with the text colour or size, as some other reviewers noted.

The color and images of this book exceeded my expectations. It showed more than unbelievable plants but also close-ups of seeds, spores, etc. I stress the word close-up. The color was vivid and beautiful. Amazon found another great selection for me.

this book is glorious. stunningly beautiful photographs. I actually purchased it as an art book for inspiration with colors and patterns. This is one of the best purchases I've made for this purpose. Truly gorgeous.

This book would appeal to both adults and children, however, I am using the book when I teach Jr. Master Gardener classes to 3rd and 4th graders. The photographs are absolutely incredible and the text is wonderful. Even the adults oooh and aaah over the photographs.

i already owned the big books by the same authors, seeds, fruit, and pollen, so i was a little disappointed when i found this book to be a smaller summery of all those books in one. though i would hight recommend this book instead of buying all four as it had the broadest txt though if you want bigger pictures, go for the category books (fruit, pollen, seeds)

A very inspirational book that gets used for art and sculptural projects. the photos are superb and the text informative, but it's the pictures that really sell this book.

Amazing artist impressions and colours of the microscopic plant world. Well written and very interesting. Good for all ages.

Must admit one of my favourite books ever! I found his other 3 books first but then found this What is a sum up of all 3 love it.

Stunning book, highly recommended. Arrived quickly, well packed.
