what I've been looking for and disappointed with elsewhere.
I go through Tabi every 4-5 months of training... and I have to say, these are by far the most perfectly shaped and formed tabi I've purchased here on Amazon (or anywhere on the internet).I mean, when you think of how they are SUPPOSED to be, THIS is what you're thinking. Some are baggy/poorly fitting around the ankle or top of foot, or toe box (too big or small), not these. These are ones that you would not look like another "disrespectful Gaijin" if you wore these into a dojo in Japan (who sometimes try to wear rubber sole tabi inside - SMH =/ )* IDK if this detracts from the longevity of the tabi or not, but I find this little hint very helpful for tabi:--- Take the insole out of an old pair of sneakers (shaped - not those flat cushion insole inserts)--- Cut the shape of your toes with the split toe feature--- Insert into the bottoms of your Tabi** as long as you are using ones that usually come inside running shoes (not a hard plastic bottom), you do not lose any feel or sensitivity with the floor, movement. This is to form fit the tabi to the true shape of the foot not to create "a shoe" that protects you from rocks and stuff- these are INDOOR tabi... It truly gives the tabi a "customized" feel for YOUR feet.By the way, these have been holding up in the stitching for several months without signs of excessive wear/fraying... of course- where Zori or sandals (flip-flops) if you go outside!

Great & authentic!
Had to buy these slightly last minute as I am performing in a Japanese Festival this weekend and didn't know I needed these until last week. Shipping was fast, which was very appreciated, and the seller gave very good instructions about how to choose the best size. The reason I indicate my pair as being somewhat small is that my ankles are on the wider side, which makes it difficult to clasp all three of the buckles on the back. This is not something that I deem the fault of the seller or the product, I just wanted to point it out for other peoples' reference. If you have larger ankles please be aware that the fit may be tight as the cotton does not stretch much at all.Otherwise, these are great and effectively authentic tabi! They fit really well length-wise, I rounded up to 10 inches even though my feet measure about 9.5, so please know that these run small. They are perfect with my zori sandals and will work wonderfully this weekend!!

Fit
I gave them to my daughter and daughters in law. The 9" and 8" ones were too narrow for them, but the 81/2" one was just right :)

Pay attention to the tabi size - its in inches!
The TL;DR:- They're listed in size by inches, not shoe size. Just measure your foot. If in between sizes, order the larger one.- They're cotton, so careful with how you decide to dry them after a wash. They shrink in the dryer.- Order a separate pair of tabi socks to use with these. These are more like indoor shoes than socks.I was in between two sizes. Ordered the larger pair and shrunk them once in the dryer after their first wash and now they fit perfectly.I've been using these for a little over a month now - about 4 hours a week on EVA foam mats. Besides discoloration on the soles from the red mats, the socks have held up well. If there's anything to complain about, it'd be that the soles are white. Otherwise they're great.

Tabi socks order them bigger!
The quality of the product is excellent, I had a little trouble with the sizes, when I ordered the size number 9.5, after seeing my nike tennis shoes (US 9.5), I expected them to be the same size as my tennis shoes. They were much smaller, I measured my foot and it measured 10.5 inches exactly, so i exchanged them. They fit just right standing up, but the fabric is not flexible, so when i was doing my katas of Muso Jikinden Eishin Ryo Iaijutsu (sword drawing), i had to flex my foot repeatedly and then it would get too tight, so i sent them back again and got them size 11, they fit perfect and dont bother when flexing the foot.My recommendation: order them 0.5 inches bigger than the actual measurement of of your foot with a ruler. If they are too big you can shrink them in the dryer, if they are too small you will have to pay for S&H.

Nice fabric but closure is not secure
These are nice. I ordered them a little large due to other reviews but they came exactly the inches indicated, exactly! Do not tack on extra inches, maybe a quarter inch is okay. I returned them because 1) they are way too large to wear, 2) the little metal hooks in back of foot did not stay hooked. It's possible if these properly fit there would be enough tension to keep the hooks hooked. I prefer velcro altho the hooks look old-school.

Tabi socks
I've ordered these tabi socks a number of times and been satisfied each time. Make sure you carefully follow the instructions for picking the right size. It's not your shoe size.I use them for aikido which I practice three or four hours a week. They fit great and have the right level of friction with the mat. The only problem I have is that they only last six months. And by that time, they're full of holes. Maybe that's to be expected. Socks probably wouldn't last that long. It just seems like I ought to be able to get more than a hundred hours of use out of them. I haven't found anything better, though.

I purchased these to wear with a cosplay for an ...
I purchased these to wear with a cosplay for an anime convention. I wear a women's size 10 1/2" shoe and thought the tabis that were 10 1/2" long would fit. They did not fit in length and also the area around the ankles was extremely tight (and I have very thin legs). I had to exchange them and ordered size 11 1/2". They fit perfectly with a little room to spare around the ankles. They are slightly snug in the big toe slots but not too tight. They were exactly what I was looking for and I'm sure they'll work out perfectly for the con.
