Best dog packs
I love these packs, I love the harness they come on. We hiked on the SHT for 10 days, with my pup wearing them for 6-9 hours of hiking each day. She carried some of her gear and some of ours. The packs are removable from the harness, which worked great, as she could rest without the weight and still have an easy grab if we needed to catch her. The zippers are sealed, and even in a torrential rain, wet crossings, and in tall wet grass, her contents stayed dry. It is worth taking the time to fit them, balance them, and pull the compression straps tight for best carrying, but honestly, I think we cared more than the dog did.The harness fits nicely and does not chafe my dog. The top buckle is sturdy and both the harness and packs are well marked with reflective tape for easy dog sighting in the dark. The handle on the harness came in really handy for helping her over terrain. The size chart is real. A Medium is what my 60lb Lab wears, and when she is really lean/ fit, the harness is loose on the snuggest adjustment.

Everything we needed and more
We have only completed a few test hikes of up to 7 miles in preparation for our first overnight. People at the Porsche car show loved it. We found there was ample room for his water, food, snacks, collapsible bowls, toys, a brush, towel, and booties. It did not seem to inhibit movement or agility. It was quite easy to get on and fit appropriately, as long as your dog can stay still got a few min. We’re looking forward to our first overnight with it and have no doubts it will perform well.Pros: easy to attach and remove saddle bags to harness, included water bottles, very spacious but not excessively large saddle bags, quality construction, burly handle on the harness for close handling and/or liftingCons: wish the harness had a loop near the chest for a leash like an easy walk harness, only one color option, it is very important to balance both saddle bags as to not have shifting of the saddle bags to one side (we knew this when buying due to reviews), cinching and retaining excess webbing could be easier

Great dog pack
This is a great pack for dogs. First, it can be used as just a harness or as a backpack. I like that feature for long hikes as I have the option of removing the saddle bags for water crossings, rough terrain, for short rest stops, and to keep my dog from wandering off when I tarp camp at night. The harness used alone is also great for getting a dog to used to wearing a pack (for those that are new to it). This pack has three pockets on each side. All the zippers close to the rear of the pack. So, the zippers should not open up as a dog is going through the woods. The zippers are also water resistant. Each side of the pack has a a row of webbing for attaching other things to the pack. The pack also has a compression strap for each side of the pack which keeps the bag compact when empty and keeps the load stable. It also comes with two soft 1 L water bladders which are actually very high quality. The harness has great padding, and it has not bothered my dog to wear this. The stictching and build quality is excellent throughout the pack.

Well constructed. Highly functional. Dog loves it
Tons of storage. I carry all of my dogs gear, food, water, and a few essentials for myself. My boy is about 60 pounds and lean and the harness fits great. We use it both with and without the saddle bags.My boy looks like he’s on a mission and the extra weight gives him an extra workout. Just be sure to fit it properly and balance the load distribution evenly.Really solid construction and surprisingly water resistant. Great pocket set up for organization. The included water bladders are fantastic.Super happy with this product. I highly recommend it.

Missing Bladders
Update: Ended up buying two 1.5L bladders to put inside the saddlebags and was very happy there was still space for other small essentials! Our dog finished a small hike with 2L of water plus a snack ziplock of kibble, 1oz of sunscreen, a treat pouch, and waste bags. She seemed very comfortable with the fit and weight (<6lbs/<15% of her weight, ~2lbs by the end of the hike) and didn't overheat. We also love how easy it is to detach/re-attach the bags from the harness when crossing streams.Love the look and fit but didn't have the water bladders which was very disappointing. The material is great quality though and I like that the saddlebags are removable.

Perfect for our pup
Living in the desert this bag has been a great addition to our pup’s excursion kit. Plenty of room, yet easy to stabilize. The included water bottles have come in handy many times.

Very useful and well made backpack harness
I have been using a Ruffwear harness for each of my 3 dogs for some time. They are well made, and having an extra belly strap makes it almost impossible for any of them to slip out of the harness. This is basically the same harness slightly modified to be used as a doggie back pack. The backpack part can be removed if desired, and just the harness can be used by itself. Very well made and sturdy. Plenty of pockets in the backpack for stowing. Comes with 2 water bladders that tuck safely into the larger pocket on each side.
