Product description The legendary Pontarlier absinthe glass is a fantastic absinthe-tasting and collectable item. It is also perhaps the most popular antique absinthe glass on the market today. While there were many variations during the pre-ban era, this style is regarded as the ultimate traditional Pontarlier absinthe glass. This glass is a replica of the Pontarlier glass featured in the painting by Charles Maire. After appearing in an advertisement for absinthe, the glass became famous and was given its original name. The Pontarlier glass came to be associated with absinthe. The glass, including the reservoir, is made to the same dimensions as original Pontarlier absinthe glasses. The volume is quite large, approximately 25cl - 8.5 ounces, helping the absinthe drinker to appreciate delicate aromas and flavors from the best absinthes without overfilling. The reservoir at the bottom of the glass is used to measure how much absinthe to add. The water-to-absinthe ratio varies depending on the drinker, but it is usually 3 to 5 parts water to 1 part absinthe. We are sure that this set with two Pontarlier glasses and chromium plated, premium-quality absinthe spoons will make a fine addition to your bar-ware collection. Produced exclusively for Absinthe Original Liquor Store, London. HOW TO SERVE ABSINTHE - THE FRENCH ABSINTHE RITUAL: First you pour roughly three ounces of absinthe into a heavy parfait-style stemmed absinthe glass. A sometimes elaborately perforated absinthe spoon is set upon the rim of the glass and on the spoon is placed a cube of sugar. Ice-cold water is ever so slowly dripped from a glass carafe designed specifically for that purpose, onto the cube. The sugar dissolves and you continue pouring until the ratio of absinthe to water is about two to five parts, depending upon your taste and fortitude. Give the absinthe drink a spin with the spoon and drink like you dripped - slowly. Legal Disclaimer These absinthe glasses and spoons are NOT produced IN CHINA, unlike some substandard glasses and cheap absinthe spoons available from other vendors. Our Pontarlier glasses are made in France by Cristallerie La Rochere, and our spoons are handcrafted in the Czech Republic. This pair of two absinthe glasses and high-quality stainless steel absinthe spoons is certain to be the ideal equipment for any absinthe enthusiast.
