Fabulous. Quintessential basil flavor, great color, flavor, aroma. I like as an alternative to Frontier when the basil is the star ingredient. (Frontier's is great too, just different.)

I cook all organic for my family, which can be very expensive and very hard to find locally. I was thrilled to find this large 1 lb bag of organic basil as my normal source had been out for a while. This is a great money saving and healthy way to enjoy top qualify herbs for your cooking needs without breaking the bank.

It is indeed a big bag of basil, and the herb therein smells fresh and properly dried. I don't know, though, if it's because of the nature of dried basil in general or the particular kind of basil in this bag, it doesn't smell like basil. It's hard for me to associate this bag of dried "basil" with any of the fresh basil - sweet, lemon or Thai basil - that I'm familiar with. I also ordered a bag of Starwest Botanicals Organic Oregano, which resembles a lot the fresh Greek oregano we have in the yard scent-wise.

Smells like basil, looks like basil. Seems way fresher than store bought. I just didn't think through how much a pound of basil would be. This bag is HUGE. I bought this and a few other starwest spices.. They're all really good.. :)
