Life Application Study Bible NLT, Personal Size Paperback – April 1, 2005

The NLV is my favorite version and this study bible really helps you to get into the word and fully disect it! I love the breakdown of the 1 year reading schedule in the back. It is enough to get you through the whole bible but isn't overwhelming or hard to fit in. It even tells you that it focus' on all of the main and key points of the bible. I love the cross refrences and I love how you can read a foot note for almost each verse to totally understand it's meaning. I have been much more excited to open my bible and read it every day since getting this. My husband really likes the traditional looking bibles so this wasn't one to get his attention, until he started looking at mine. Then he wouldn't leave mine alone until we finally bought him one too. It is a perfect size...not huge like the full size version, but it does make the print kind of small. I personally am not bothered by the print. There is tons of extra information and extras in this bible and I truly recommend this bible (especially since it is priced at an awesome price) to anyone, people familair with the bible and especially people still growing and learning. It has been my most favorite purchase in a while.

I've started buying these as gifts for people. This is an amazing Bible and very worth the price. To give some perspective, I used to have the "No Fears, No Regrets" Teen Bible, but I literally destroyed it from a lot of use, so I decided to upgrade my Bible to track with my spiritual and natural maturity. This is the perfect entry-level Bible for people coming out of teenage years or even long-time believers. My favorite part is that I invested in some pens that have zero bleed for thinner Bible pages (this is typical of every Bible nowadays so don't let this deter you from buying this Bible), and I just write out what God is telling me or any insights I see as I read. It's pure joy. There is surprisingly a lot of space for marginalia and the Life Application notes are ridiculously timely/inspired. One of my favorite things about this Bible are the book intros, and the unifying theme inserts throughout. Also, to be super-practical, the "personal size" bit is true: this Bible is small enough that you can take it anywhere. I've taken it to a restaurant before and just eaten a sandwich and done a devotion without drawing too much attention to myself. Final comment and then I will shut up - for New Believers, there is an NLT New Believer's Bible that you might want to check out. My friend used that when he first came to the faith, and he said that it was his favorite Bible. When he asked me for a new Bible, I gave him this one as a gift. This is the perfect bible for those who really want to understand the Word of God. I do have to remind you that this is a Protestant Bible; therefore it is missing some books that the Catholic Bible includes. I'm Catholic and I recommend those of you that are still seeking to study from this bible. To me, it is the BEST study bible out there!!!! The notes, the book introductions, the outline, the personality profiles, the maps, the charts and diagrams, the cross references, the textual notes and sectional headings, the Christian worker's resource, the master index, the dictionary and the chronology of bible events and world events are incredibly fabulous!!! If you are Catholic, study from the Life Application Study Bible, New Living Translation (NLT) and to study the books that are not included in this bible, then get a Catholic bible to complete your study. May God pour his blessings and wisdom on you and guide you through your study, so your eyes would open and your heart would soften. Remember the real wisdom is Fear of the Lord!!! I bought 6 of these to give as gifts. They are very nice and an excellent quality. The only problem was that it says they are "personal size" so I presumed they were a smaller, thinner Bible. These are really quite large - almost as big as a full sized Bible. So you surely get your money's worth, but if you are looking for something very small, this is not what you want. I should have just paid closer attention to the actual size, rather than making a judgment based on the title. All in all though, these are nice Bibles.

Totally enjoying every use of this bible as its easy to read and easy to use for study!

For many years I stayed away from Christianity because my only exposure to it was an old KJV bible that I picked up somewhere. It was off putting because Ye old English was difficult for me to comprehend. A few years ago, I decided to investigate scripture again and found a copy of the NLT at an old book store. Since then, the NLT Bible has been my favorite translation of scripture because it makes the context of each book easy to understand. By reading this version, I came to the realization of who God is, who Christ is, I found the truth, and the way to a purpose filled life.

I really struggle reading this because the type is SO small. I'd rather a larger book than needing a magnifying glass. I like the information it provides as a great resource to help you understand the bible verses you're reading.
