I was really happy to get this since I didn’t know my dog’s actual age as she’s an adopted stray. The results seem accurate and honestly a bit cathartic for me, especially as she’s been dealing with some health issues. I always thought she was around 12–13, so learning she’s closer to 16–17 gave me peace of mind knowing she’s lived a long, full life. The estimated birthday was a sweet bonus and gave us an excuse to throw her a “Sweet 16.” I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about their pup. 🐾

I enjoy the Embark products, and the age test was new to me. I picked up a new dog with missing front teeth, which are used for aging by the vet. One person guessed that the dog was under a year while another person guessed that the dog was seven or so. I decided to narrow this down using this product. The technology does not allow for exact aging, but can narrow it down to just over a year in range. This was very helpful for me, worth the money. It's very easy to use and Embark is an easy company to work with. I got the answers I was looking for, which is helpful with veterinary Care.

I purchased this test expecting at least a reasonable estimate of my dog’s age, but the results were completely inaccurate—off by at least 1.5 years from his actual age. When I reached out to the company to address this, I was met with dismissive customer service that essentially told me I was wrong and that they wouldn’t do anything to resolve it. For context: I adopted my dog in October 2015, and at that time, the rescue agency estimated him to be at least one year old. That means in February 2025, he is a minimum of 10.5 years old, but more likely closer to 11. Yet, this test claimed he was only 8 years and 9 months old—which would mean he was somehow born after I adopted him. This isn’t just a minor discrepancy; it’s a massive miscalculation that calls into question the validity of their entire testing process. The company claims the test is 77% accurate within a year, yet my results fell into the 23% that are inaccurate—and by a significant margin. If a husky’s average lifespan is about 13 years, this test miscalculated over 11% of his life, which is completely unacceptable for a product that claims to be “scientifically sound.” I was never expecting perfection, but for the price, I expected some level of reliability. Instead, I got wildly incorrect results and a company that refuses to stand behind its product when questioned. If this company is content with providing nearly a quarter of their paying customers with inaccurate results and offering no resolution when challenged, then their claim of “customer satisfaction” is meaningless. If you’re considering this test—don’t waste your money. The results are unreliable, and the company has made it clear they have no interest in addressing concerns when their accuracy is challenged.

We had a rescue from a family friend. After hearing so many different estimates on his age, we decided to order this test. They have us a 18 month windows of when they expected him to be born. It helped us out with care options knowing a closer side of his age. I would do one of these test kits again if I'm unsure of their age.
