Amazing shaving gadget!
I had long back tried a Braun foil shaver, dry type. I was not happy with it's performance and gave it off.Since then, I tried various cartridge razors, but none of them satisfied me as the Gillette Fusion 5.Believing that changing over to electric shaver would give me the advantage of avoiding in-grown hair, I was researching various products in the market. Since I had already tested a foil type shaver, this time I preferred to try the rotary type offered by Philips Norelco. But then I was confused about the various models of Norelco and was spoiled by choice. Nobody, not even the manufacturer, offers a clear cut distinction of the advantage or the disadvantage of one model over the other. It was a little strange to see some higher series like the 5000 series (I bought the 5582 model) costed almost half the price of lower series models like the 3500 series models.I toyed between the cost of the models and a few features like battery life and the number of cutting edges like 45 for the 5000 series against the 27 for the 3000 series and the presence of SenseIQ. It was almost like a lottery and I settled upon the S5582/20 model for a cost of about Rs. 7850.This is a dry and wet model like most new models are, with a trimmer that appears to be not all that efficient. But, the main reason for the purchase was for the shave, which it does most efficiently.I have now been using it for ten days and I can now confidently vouch for a very clean and close shave. On every term of consideration, the shave I have been experiencing with this shaver is superior to and faster than the cartridge (fusion 5) shaver I have been using hitherto. I don't sport a moustache. Shaving time for my entire face is about 3 to 4 minutes only. Shaving of the neck also is absolutely smooth and clean.I indulge only in wet shaving everyday, with Gillette gel.The experience is very pleasant and smooth. But then, will there be somebody to talk about the merits and demerits of various series of Philips Norelco (since there are models from about Rs. 3,000 to about Rs. 90,000) for the benefit of the buyer. The dichotomy is that the shaver pamphlet advises the shaving head to be replaced every year. But the spare shaverhead SH 71 recommended for this shaver suggest a replacement every alternate year. Which one is right?Another surprise is that the shaverhead costs almost as much as the shaver itself.

Takes 10 mins
I am not sure what other review compains are about. I have used this around 8 times and each time I have used it I used it only one time per session and got results. You need to understand when to use this device. When ur beard is just grown out after 1 day of shave and u always want a clean shave look, then after bath just put shave cream and use it, it takes 10 mins and gives you a perfect clean shave. If you try on big beards (5-8 days old) then ofcourse this won't be affective. It's meant to clean stubble hair.Only con about it is the trimmer, either I don't know to use it or its utterly a waste of a feature.

Too Good
After more than 30 uses I can say it is a replacement of blade, gives clean shave with easy to roll over the face, use it rough of gentle it safe to skin,When I have time to save i use it with foam, when don’t use it dry, gives good results in both dry and wet,Once in use it after dressed up - no mess at all.And yes it fast in charge and have good battery life tooWould recommend it

Topnotch quality product
Right out of the box, the quality seems topnotch and it should be given the price tag on this thing.Used it for the first time and I must say the shave was effortless and very smooth. Did not feel slightest of irritation or cut or anything like that which you get using the cheaper versions. To nitpick, the side burner trimmer could be better in terms of sharpness in my opinion. Also a carrying case would have been nive given the price.Philips is also giving an additinal one year warranty upon registration of product which is nice.My conclusion is that dont go for cheaper ones. If you cant or dont want to invest 7.5k upfront, get this on EMI. This is a proper electric shaver where you will not compromise on quality and most importantly comfort. If we did not want comfort them why to go with elec shaver in fist place, right?

One of the better 'Rotary shaver' that money can buy in India.
If your face suits a rotary shaver, this is easily the best one available in India. It shaves as good as if not better than any other fancy expansive shaver of this type. This is miles ahead compared to older models of series 5000 or lesser models from Philips. This is an easy recommendation for everyone using a lower model or older rotary shaver.

Not as expected from Philips shaver
This shaver build is decent but the quality of the shave is below average. If you have a hard face hair and use this for a daily shave, then I suggest you buy a Braun instead. The honeycomb design doesn't adjust to the hardness and leaves patches along. You will need to spend 3+ attempts to get all the hair in wet mode, and 5+ attempts in dry mode. A roller style model is lot more effective.
