Size:400 ft | Style:4 Color Pack Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) wires do not follow the American Wire Gauge standard (AWG). AWG is developed for electrical resistance classification of Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) wires. High current application specifying AWG standard assumes the wire is OFC. Same conductor area CCA has higher resistance than OFC making AWG classification invalid. CCA wires are developed for low current applications (e. g. signal processing). As a rule of thumb, reduce CCA gauge size by 2 to achieve similar electrical resistance as OFC wires. For selection of OFC wires using AWG standards, visit www..com/GSPOWER

I get mad every time I see this trash
Okay, so I'm buying a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff for a major project I'm working on. Hey, that's a good deal - bunch of wire for cheap. Good enough for automotive apparently. Sure why not. I order the stuff, and it all sits in a box for a few months because the season turned on me.Fast-forward to the first time I try to use this wire, I threw every single roll away. Apparently I missed one, which I found cleaning up today, thus the review. Background; my profession involves literal national certification for soldering. So, let's break this wire down. Wire consists of two things. Insulative jacketing and a conductor. The jacketing is honestly the absolute worst quality plastic jacketing I have ever seen. Melts at a low temperature, shrinks horribly when warmed, loose fit around the conductors, stretches like taffy when hot. Yeah I know, it's not meant to get hot, but I made the mistake of trying to solder the wire into a connector. Crazy, right?Next we move on to the conductor. First problem, there isn't any of it. 18 Ga? In WHAT universe? Absolutely no way is this 18 Ga, unless they're scamming us by not indicating that "18 Ga" means something else in their nomenclature. 10 Rolls of it, sure. 100 Feet, uh...why not. I didn't unspool more than the foot I ..."used?"....Next problem. What METAL is this? It's not copper. It's not tin. It's copper colored, but when heated (aka, soldered) the plating burns off, and the conductor within - aluminum probably? - is exposed, and absolutely refuses to bind to the solder. What's worse is that whatever reaction happened with that metal being heated and exposed to solder also stripped the coating off of the tip for my Metcal station! THAT TIP COST MORE THAN THE WIRE! Completely ruined, in the course of NORMAL USE.No, this isn't automotive wire. I wouldn't use this wire for a first-grade school project; I'm afraid of the liability. Absolutely worthless. There are two kinds of cheap items;1) Relatively high value cheap items, like Amazon Basics cables and batteries, or cloned drivegears for 3D printers, or Chinese knockoff Arduinos2) Low-cost, low-value items. Worthless items. Items that're cheap so you can afford to buy them at a whim, but valueless so it's a waste of the money too. This wire is all of the latter, and I genuinely believe there's going to be some liability lawsuit some day when some enthusiast's home burns completely to the ground because of this specific product.I'm not a lawyer, and nobody paid me to make this review. Nor can they pay me enough to revoke it.

Aluminum wire! Avoid at all costs!
This wire is aluminum wire with a copper clad. This makes it impossible to solder for any good connections. Also, the aluminum is so soft, it makes crimping connectors useless. The wire either easily breaks or pulls free. Also after a while, the aluminum will degrade, making the wire useless. Avoid this at all costs!

Aluminum Wire Breaks Easily
UPDATE 12/1/19 - My first review about this wire was pretty negative. I was upset that I had to rebuild a wiring harness that I used inside a generator where there was lots of vibration. Now I use this wire for harnesses that are not inside the generator, but run to the control panel. So it has its uses, just be careful where you use it.This is aluminum wire with copper cladding. It breaks very easily. I made the mistake of using it inside a generator where there is lots of vibration. The vibration caused the wire to break at the connection. Now I can’t trust this wire and have to completely rebuild the wiring harnesses.

Poor tensile strength and prone to end breakage
I bought this pack for the gauge and the color selection. They were to be used in a motorcycle re-wiring which I've done on multiple occasions. The ends are stripped and soldered and then placed in the type of connector being used. In the last 2 days multiple wires have snapped right where the soldered ends go into the connectors. All the wires have extra length to not put stress on the wires. Makes no difference. I move a wire and it breaks off at the connector. I've never had these failures with other wire brands. I'm tossing these in the trash as a lessons learned.

Flimsy, low quality wire
Flimsy, low quality wire. Perhaps useful for speaker wire, but nothing else pertaining to automotive use. Wire is so thin it breaks with crimp connectors and it's super hard to solder.

No problem soldering or crimping
There are several reports of problems with soldering or crimping. I have no problem with either. When crimping one should always tin the wire, even crimping stranded solid copper without tinning is not a good idea.

Will not work with crimp connectors
I was originally impressed with the appearance of the wire. Then I tried using it with crimp connectors. The wire would easily break at the connector. I tried several different brands of crimp connectors, tried adjusting my ratcheting crimpers, and even tried a new set of crimpers. Nothing worked. Then I tried the same crimpers and crimp connectors with some old wire I had, and problem solved. This wire is weak and brittle. I’m sure it’s fine for some things, but don’t expect it to work with crimp connectors.

Quality wire
great wire at a reasonable price. This is not the typical cheap wire that I would expect for the price. I needed a "speedwire" fora bank of switches that I added to my truck. I got this for a lower price than other speedwire setups, with larger conductors. I will be ordering more of this for future wiring needs.
