Size:1 pack Hydrosorbent creates a 40 gram Silica Gel Dehumidifier desiccant unit which protects 3 cubic feet of enclosed space. It has top grade orange bead silica gel within a compact aluminum canister that measures 4" x 2" x 0.5". It has a built-in indicator that turns from orange to clear signaling a need for reactivation. This Silica Gel Dehumidifier can be reactivated in any oven with a lifetime expectancy.

Window in container becomes cloudy after 1 reactivation
Silica itself works very well; however, the see through window on the container used to identify when the silica needs "reactivated" becomes cloudy and un-usable after 1 reactivation. Makes it very difficult to know when the gel needs reactivated, as you can no longer see the color of the silica through the window, and the case itself is very difficult to open without spilling the silica everywhere.I've ordered two 'packs of 5' of these. Although both were ordered from Hydrosorbent fulfilled by Amazon about 1 month apart...1 set arrived stamped "reactivate at 250 degrees" and says "LOCKDOWN" instead of HYDROSORBENT and the other set of 5 are stamped "reactivate at 300 degrees" and are stamped with teh HYDROSORBENT brand name. The ones stamped "250 degrees" became cloudy after only 1 reactivation at 250*. The set stamped 300* appear to be perfectly fine. I had to take apart the 250* containers to make sure the silica reactivated correctly; and it did (as seen in pictures); just makes a mess when you pop it open.As other reviewers have noted, it seems hit & miss when you actually receive the HYDROSORBENT branded items. Since it's a gamble, I do not recommend.

I'm in a humid climate, but
I bought these and had them brought to South America with some friends. I live in a very humid climate, but these don't seem to absorb much moisture. They silica gel start off orange and then turn clear when they have absorbed water from the air. The instructions say to bake them in an oven at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. I've done so several times, and the silica gel beads turn clear again almost immediately. So, did they not dry in the oven long enough or do they not really "recharge"? The other thing is that the containers are not actually fastened closed in any manner, so if you pick it up upside down (the top is not clearly marked), or you drop it, you have little silica gel beads rolling all over the floor.

Great product; lasts indefinitely
I love these. Probably have over a dozen. They work great. How long they last before needing recharging depends on how well sealed the vessel they’re in is..The instructions say to use the oven to recharge for three hours at 250 degrees; but I actually like to use my dehydrator for about 5-6 hours and around 165. It is just safer to leave unattended and doesn’t turn your whole house into an oven when doing it in the summer:

works ok in my small safe--but it has to be dried out in the oven at 300 F for 3-4 hours to remove the moisture. replaced it with a 110V rechargeable plug in. unit costs more but I don't have to heat up the oven to dry it out every couple of weeks.

Good product at a fair price.
Used for the boat tool box and gun safe, camera bags, etc. for the past 20 odd years. I have a hand full and change them out every month or two. When all are saturated, into the oven they go for a recharge. This is a good product at a fair price to protect expensive metal items from corrosion. They are especially helpful in the marine environment.

Dry capsules = Easier capping
Background/Use: I like to cap my own supplements using empty gelcaps and bulk powders. To accomplish this, I use a capping machine and buy gelatin capsules 1,000 at a time. I had trouble getting the previous caps to fit into the machine so I figured they must be absorbing moisture. So when I bought my present package of empty capsules, I also purchased this dessicant box to keep them dry. The relative humidity in my house stays between 40-50% (40-pint dehumidifier in the summer and many humidifiers in the winter) so I'm not fighting some crazy conditions to begin with. When I got the gelcaps in, I tried them in the capping machine and though some of them were a tight fit, they worked as received. After that, I transferred them to a gallon ZipLoc bag and put this dessicant box in. 5 days later, I tried them again and to my surprise, the capsules had actually LOST MOISTURE. I was just hoping to prevent them gaining any additional moisture but to lose moisture was astounding. They all fit right into the capping machine with no resistance and in fact the top half fit so loosely that a couple of them wouldn't stay in when I flipped it upside down to press onto the filled bottom half. I did not have high hopes for this so I was looking for a solution involving calcium sulphate (the ultimate dessicant) but now I doubt I will need anything stronger than this.Bottom line: For keeping capsules dry, this works splendidly well.

I mis-estimated the job...
This looks like an excellent tool to keep smallish air-tight spaces dry. However, I was too optimistic about what it might do for spaces that are not completely air-tight. The cupboard that I was hoping to control has small gaps around the door, and apparently moisture was coming in through those gaps at about the same speed that three of the these dehumidifiers were absorbing it, so they were not effective in my application. The device did work as advertised... it absorbed moisture and when I put it into the oven the moisture was expelled. I am now using one of them to keep some electronics inside a metal box with a tight fitting lid dry.

Works As Advertised
This product appears to be doing what it's supposed to do. I placed one dehumidifier in each of my guitar cases. The humidity in both has dropped from ~64% to ~55% within three days (according to two different, un-calibrated digital hygrometers). The dehumidifiers are a good size for this application. They fit the headstock compartments of my cases perfectly. Double-sided tape seems to keep them in place, though something more robust might be needed if I traveled more. They add no noticeable weight to the cases. I have not tried re-charging them yet. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase.
