LAVA GENIE Stringless Smart Guitar, No Strings Attached, Hundreds of Instrument Presets, Onboard Speaker, Foldable, Detachable, White, 30.5 inch.

I've spent just a couple of hours so far, but it's been a very enjoyable experience. I'm finding that there's a good learning curve and don't expect to sound like your favorite artist instantly. The ability to play music without any experience is very tempting but remember this instrument allows for chord progressions and not single notes so if your idea is to start shredding forget it! If playing and singing is your thing without tons of music lessons that this might work out. The sound on this instrument is very clear and I was surprised by how many different sounds could be had. Electric guitar in both regular and overdrive plus piano and others. The volume and sound are excellent and I'm just using the built in speakers, but I would imagine with an amplifier and even possibly a sound effects pedal the range could be amazing. Finally, it was delivered 4 days early and yes, I did download the app. I'm still exploring the app but so far, it's been very easy to navigate and hoping in the future to have more fun just learning and playing tunes. Overall, it's a good product just read and watch as many videos as possible, so you understand what you are getting before pulling the trigger on this one.

I own (and play) a Genie, a Liber Live C1 and an Enya Cyber-G (plus a few traditional guitars) ... By Far (for so-called "smart guitars" ) I prefer the Genie (and remain at least intrigued by the Cyber-G for its interesting design choices that enable melody play). I originally ordered the C1 because I thought it sounded better (slightly) and seemingly had a superior design from an engineering standpoint... but I quickly became disappointed by the firmware and App software, plus the responsiveness of the company (including updates or communicating a clear future road map) and have come to LOVE the Genie for their balanced product execution, fantastic customer support (you can actually readily discuss the product with the CEO on Facebook - and good suggestions make it into the product pipeline), and their robust ecosystem that supports guitar players throughout their performance ability development. While their song chart player access subscription model results in extra costs, it shows a sense of integrity, respect for intellectual property and an assurance that the company is in the game for the long haul (not to mention, results in a vastly larger and more complete library). If you are more cost conscious, the ability to upload your own charts (free) is fairly robust (I've routinely copied / pasted charts from readily available web sources - which are automatically converted into "Genie Format") and while it takes a bit of effort to fine tune these "projects", the results are quite good (for some, this effort might be part of the fun here). I play the Genie a few hours each day and thoroughly enjoy it. I still believe (as an alternative, secondary, exploratory choice) that the Cyber-G is worth owning (I think the guitar itself might even edge out the Genie for it's engineering), but their software and ecosystem doesn't currently compare to Lava's. I do still pick it up a few hours a week, because I'm encouraged enough that I don't want to lose touch with it. Honestly, in spite of high hopes, I really couldn't recommend the C1 (and get frustrated by it)... I'm still holding onto it in hopes that they get their act together at some point (the firmware and App are miles behind), but I rarely touch it, given the superior alternatives. Bottom line, get the Genie if you are deciding between the three.

LAVA is a great invention, whether you're a true musician or novice. App is great and necessary; it downloaded just fine. The tutorials on the app are well designed and easy to follow. There are also YouTube videos from LAVA that are helpful to see the instruments range of functions and capabilities. Lava performs all the sounds of guitar, base, piano, &drums. Lyrics with the songs to sing along using the app too. Like any instrument, the more you practice the better you'll get. I was amazed in just minutes I was enjoying playing a couple of popular songs using the preset modes available. You don't need to know how to play guitar or read music to use. I really look forward to learning the more customized and free hand modes of playing as well. LAVA is lots of fun for kids and adults. I highly recommend! 👍🏻👍🏻

Excellent customer service. I had a problem with the first instrument. I was contacted almost immediately after I texted the seller. They were more than helpful and very courteous. I had complained that this instrument is not easy to learn unless you purchase the lava Plus subscription. They were kind enough to give me a free 3-year subscription. Once I got that I was able to learn several songs very quickly. It's a lot of fun to sit there and play. It has so many different sounds and chord progressions. It's also a lot of fun just to sing along with the music and be able to play the chords with it. I love the compactness of it and it is very light. I can sing a little bit but I have no guitar knowledge. But with this guitar you don't need it It shows you every note to play along with the lyrics. I'm not saying that this guitar will teach you how to play a real guitar. But it may lead you to learn to play a real one and will be very helpful in the process. I highly recommend this lava genie for anyone that wants to how to sing and play. A big shout out to Ken Song and his management team for all their help.

OMG, I LOVE this thing so much! It's like it was MADE for me. I started playing the guitar when I was 12 years old, and played all through my teen years and well into adulthood. I played in the church choir, I brought it to school as a teacher and taught my kids music, and I loved it. It was my favorite way to relax and zone out. Then I was assaulted by a student who almost broke my neck and I lost mobility in my neck and arms. It took over a year to get some of my mobility back but i could never play again because I couldn't form the chords with my left hand any more, and it really hurt to try. Now, with this Lava Genie, I can play again, and even though it's not exactly the same, it's giving me that same feeling, and I've been able to just zone out with music every day since it arrived. Also, my parrot loves it too, lol. I just wish the app had singing version too so I could learn to sing along, lol. But I have Alexa so I just ask her to play the songs I don't know to see if I like them...and there are so many songs I do know. It was shipped quickly, and packaged perfectly. It comes with a beautiful case, strap, and a power adapter. It is cute and futuristic, lightweight, has good speakers and an output to attach it to an amp if you like, and I love it so much!
