Good
Patrick can really act and dance but Demi Moore, not so much. Too bad Patrick had such a short career / life.

Whoopie Goldberg brings this movie into A Class.
I rented it because of Whoopie Goldberg and was not only not disappointed, but utterly exhilarated by her character Otta May (sp.) This must bethe furthest out she's gotten and still kept believability. The story is of 3 friends. Patrick is a successful financier/investor as is Tony; Demiplays Patrick's girlfriend, a professional sculptor, The two decide to buy an antique flat and renovate it; the film opens with the three of them doingsome wholehearted demolition which allows Demi to have her studio downstairs and their roomy bedroom upstairs. After moving in, Tony invitesthem out, but they had previous plans to see "Macbeth." Walking home from the theatre, they pass a bad guy, and the story starts with a bang. The bad guy comes after them, Patrick, trying to fight him off, is killed, but doesn't realize it yet and gives chase. The confusion and lack of understanding is played very well. You can just feel how he is struggling to understand why he is still sentient, but can't touch anything.Demi stays with his body, calling for help; he is rushed to the hospital, but cannot be saved. He starts meeting other "deceased" souls, who start toenlighten him. He just has to find out what happened. He stalks the killer, and finds out it was a hired job, and that his girlfriend is in danger. This is definitely a fast paced thriller with little relief until near the end. He has to warn her, getting anxious, and finds this fake medium, or so she(Whoopie) believes, but for some reason, she can hear HIM. He plays this character very well; he is very determined, and just will NOT give up, no matter what he has to do. Their interchange is wonderful, and almost comic relief, except the danger looms. Carl, the friend (Tony), is shownto be desperately criminal, getting in with some bad guys, trying to embezzle $4,000,000, for which he needs the secret code, which is in Patrick'scharacter's effects, taken home by Demi. The danger is always edgy, & fast paced, and Patrick's character has a lot to learn in a short time inorder to effect safety, and life for his girlfriend. You begin to feel really uncomfortable with Carl (Tony), and when Patrick witnesses his confession to the murderer of how he is stealing this money, the shock and loss of trust is very visible on his face, but this spurs him into a very creative solution, which is not only very satisfying to the audience as we see Carl stunned, disbelieving, and with a terribly terribly guilty look on his face when he discovers the money he was trying to steal is gone, but delightfully hilarious, involving Whoopie's character in a high class scheme which she pulls off , well, not exactly with complete aplomb, but as much gentility as she can muster, and it is very funny. (And the scene of what she has to do subsequently raises such compassion and delight in you it is worth the whole film - what a treasure!) The pace continues, thoughbecause Carl figures out he has to kill HER, and thus, but his frantic near insane insistence ends up bringing out his own payment for his deeds. This part of the ending did not sit quite right with me; for some reason it didn't seem like true consciousness awakening justice. However, you may feel differently. I wanted him to face his intentions fully. My only other dislike was of the music; it was not original, and frequently sounded trite (borrowed themes matching the action), and thus did not support the excellence of the story, it's exploration of death, what possibilities may be open to us, such as affecting the lives of those we love, and the excellence of the actors. If you think you would like the combination of lovestory, thriller, wonderful comedy, and insight into eternal justice, I do recommend this film.

Ghost
I love this movie! Patrick Swayze was as hot as I remember. I am so sad that he is gone. I remember feeling a pang of jealousy that Demi Moore was his love interest. Whoopi was hilarious!

Love can sometimes live beyond all boundaries...
At least, that's what 'Ghost' is trying to tell us. If love is strong enough, it can exist even after death, even when all seems lost. Of-course, there's no real reassurance anything exists after death, including love, but since people need desperately to believe there is still something out there left of their soul after the body fails to continue its journey upon earth, it's understandable why this movie suggests that some souls might still wander among us as ghosts - especially when their end wasn't exactly expected. Either way, whether you chose to believe or not, this is simply terrific entertainment, and one that can no doubt be considered a classic these days.I don't know why I didn't get to watch 'Ghost' earlier, but as they say, it's better late than never. For the few of those who haven't seen it yet (mainly the younger generation, I assume) I'll just say there is a big chance this is the best Demi Moore\Patrick Swayze movie you'll get to see, and I'm still waiting for something else to surpass the hypnotizing tension and mystery atmosphere offered here, the fact Patrick Swayze's immense suffering feels so real even though in his new form he's not suppose to suffer any more; Also, you'll get to see Whoopi Goldberg in one of her best roles up until now, and personally I feel that here she even exceeds expectations and is better than what she did with her most famous role as Dolores Van-Cartièr\Sister Mary Clarence just a couple of years later (but, if you'll watch closely, I quite sure you'll notice that her celebrated movies about nuns took their inspiration from an interesting scene here).I must mention the guy that plays Carl (don't remember the actor's name at the moment, but he's simply great). He's doing a fine job as the best friend of Swayze's character who betrays his faith and stubs him in the back (well, something quite close to it, anyway). I felt a bit sorry for him at his loss at first, but as the story developed and the truth was exposed in all its ugliness I hated him with a reason.Beside those wonderful actors, notice the one who briefly plays the subway ghost. A more tortured soul, so filled with agony and despair even after death, I haven't witnessed in a very long time, or should I say I never witnessed in my life...To conclude things, you really should not miss this movie, by all means take your time to get to know what the power of true love that lasts beyond the limits of life is, and by the way, if you like this one, make sure as well to listen to the original cast recording of the musical based on the same story - made years later, and through the music you'll relive the sorrow and deep emotions of all the people involved in the story of 'Ghost', a story that seems as fresh and honest (albeit not exactly real in places) as it seemed back then in 1990, when the wonderful feature first reached the big screens and captured the hearts and imagination of millions around the globe. Not just your average ghost story.
