Great book about he PNW geology
This book outlines the complex geologic processes of the Northwest with lots of photos and diagrams, and language that's easy for the non-geologist to grasp. This is a used book, and in excellent condition with one exception: Someone set down a coffee cup or something on the front cover. There's a big round stain, not terribly obvious or disfiguring, and it doesn't really affect the reading of the book. Overall satisfied with my purchase. Thank you!

Great Read - Even for a book about rocks
I did not grow up in the PNW, but I fell in love with the geology and spend all my free time exploring it now. I've been curious about the forces that formed this landscape, and wanted to know more. I wasn't sure how I would take to reading about plate tectonics and glaciers. However, this book is really well written and I actually found it hard to put down for a book about rocks. Now I can go out and play historical guide to my friends! (whether they like it or not)

I couldn't put this book down.
I admit that geology interests me but even I was surprised that this book was hard to put down. What a story! I couldn't wait to find out what happened next to this complex landscape. Hill Williams tells the story in an easy to read, easy to understand prose, not an easy feat given the subject. Congratulations to Mr. Hill on a job very well done. What a great book!

Technical but good
I am not a native NW'ner and since the eruption of Mt. St. Helen's I have been interested in the "restlessness" of this area and I learned a lot from reading this book. It's scary but reality sometimes can do that.

Understandable overview of Northwest geological history
I bought this for my 93 year old mother, hoping that it would not be written in so technical a manner that she could not understand it. This augments another book I bought recently about the geological history of the world, and has helped field her many questions about the nature of the mountains and rocks she has seen in our Northwest states. She loves it.

I didn't look to see that this publication is from ...
I didn't look to see that this publication is from 2002. A lot has changed since then so this is very outdated. Basic information is okay but still far behind times and is only about 150 pages. Certainly not worth the price.

I like the book so far
I like the book so far. I have not read a lot of it yet, but it seems to give me the answers I expected.

Excellent Book
A great book for anyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest, or plans to visit here. Lots of information on the geologic dynamics that formed this corner of the country. I also recommend Mr. Williams other book, "Made In Hanford" as another good source of history of this area.
