DPS Used for 2HP(1.5kW) 6A Motor, Single to 3 Phase Converter, My-PS-3, 1 DPS Must Be Used for 1 Motor Only, Input/Output 200-240V, UL Listed

I needed it to power up my 3 phase 2hp 2J head BP mill. Rotary convertors were a little on the steep side as well as phase invertors. This guy works great. The directions are pretty good, but might a little vague for someone with who's not an electrician or has knowledge of 3 phase power, phase rotation etc. But even then, its something they should not be attempting if that's the case. I ran a dedicated 20amp 240v circuit for it and put a 2 pole disconnect in front of it. As most digital convertors and VFD's create phase interference and distortion on the lines without filters. So the disconnect stops any of that when not in use. Then put it on a 3 pole contactor with 120v coil so the mill head gets no power unless for immediate use. Then from the contactor to the drum switch on the mill head. Make sure the phasing is correct for the rotation so when the drum switch is put into low range it spins correctly and the same in high range. Had it installed now for like 5 months now and runs great. Also make sure you get the right size for your motor load. Getting one of these too small, will over drive the unit and burn it out. Getting one too large will underdrive the DPS and not create the ideal 3rd phase sine wave. The unit creates the 3rd phase immediately after the motor is turned on. So it's not ideal from a start up standpoint, but under operation it's fine. Ideally maybe a cap bank as a buffer or a VFD ramp up would be best, but then you're getting into a serious investment. For the weekend machinist project work I do, its perfect. If you're looking at this for full time, professional power solution; a rotary convertor or getting a 3phase service would be best.

I Installed the phase shifter on a 3 phase end mill, worked great for about two days, now my motor is making an odd noise. I took the motor to an electrical shop, and they said it’s fine, I had them connect the “phase shifter” and bam the noise returned. The electrical shop said that the phase shifter is only putting out two legs of power. Hopefully I can get a warranty on this item, if it wasn’t for this issue, I would have rated it better.

The media could not be loaded. First I bought other brand with bigger size, the motor started to get very hot in seconds. But this one with the recommended size works very well, I run it for 10 minutes without loud and no heat, I cut 50 cuts in peace of hard maple the motor shows no significant heat. I don’t know about the long term usage of this phase converter but it seems it has very good potential.

It worked! I finally got a surface grinder up and running. This is so far the easiest phase converter that I've ever installed. Wiring is simple and straight forward. Two hot wires in, three hot wires out. But, there is no connection for a grounding. YOU MUST HAVE A GROUNDING WIRE! Every component must be grounded from the main panel to the disconnect, to the switch, to the machine you're running. Easy enough, just go around this converter with a grounding wire. Doesn't look the best but it works. Since the wire connections on this converter are inadequately covered place this device where you are less likely to come into contact with it. Be safeUPDATE!Used this device to burn out one motor, and came seriously close to destroying a second one. It may work, but you’re taking your chances. We’re taking the knowledgeable advice of an electric motor repair tech and getting a rotary phase converter. Motors ain’t cheap! Especially when some equipment has its own special (and darned hard to find ) parts.Thank you!

I bought this for a 1.5 hp motor on my engine lathe. It will not balance the phases unless the motor is loaded. For light loads like polishing or finish passes it leads to a 3 Amp phase imbalance. I will keep the product even though it won't work for this. It will work perfectly for something like an air compressor.

I am a industrial maintenance technician. I work on 3 phases motors all the time. I bought 2 of these to go on a tortilla machine. I checked to make sure motors were correctly wired for 208-230v 3phase before I even put head these things. Installed them and within 3 minutes one of them burned up. Turned off machine power and checked everything again. On phase converter (1) the (v) phase has a direct short to ground. I am going to try to make a warranty claim on it. We will se how that goes. I would have given a lower rating than 1 star. But Amazon will not let you write a review if you don’t at least give the product 1 star
