HV300 General Purpose Variable Frequency Drive (200-240v, 3 HP)

Very nice drive. First one I've installed and went smoothly and runs well. For first timers the manual was confusing but able to be figured out with a little patience. Will definitely be purchasing more of these to fine tune to some other pieces of equipment.

The drive works fine and is a good value for the price. The manual does a terrible job of explaining how to program the system. Here is a hint, you can program everything using the P values found in the appendix. You have to read the section on how to enter the group and then the parameter in that group. For example 13.06 is reached by joining group 13 and scrolling to P value 6. There is this weird numbering system that is very confusing with every parameter having two number values so make sure you understand you want the one with a two digit, decimal two digit config.Another reviewer said that the programming cable is included for the PC -- Wrong -- there is no cable. Unless you can round up a cable on your own or make one forget about using the PC software. But, like I said, using the P values you can code everything from the keypad.In summary, if you want a solid drive with lots of features at a good price -- and you are willing to navigate some horrendously difficult to understand documentation then this is a decent buy. My advice, look for the manual online and see if you savvy it before you buy.

I bought the 5hp model for my metal lathe to replace a very noisy RFC and a Baldor 3 phase vfd. The drive comes with a USB to RS485 adapter cable which allows you to program the drive with the HV Manager software right out of the box; which is a lot easier than using the key pad. Changing parameter via the key pad isn't that hard but with the software you can see all the parameters in a given group on one screen and all the parameter groups show up on the left hand column of the screen. My biggest criticism of the software is that you have to install and run it to access the help files. This seems to be a high quality drive even though it's made in China. No manual in the box with the drive but it's easily accessible on their Web site as is the HV Manager software and the USB driver files. There are two manuals regular and advanced. They are well written but this is a very complex drive with lots of capabilities so there is a lot of info to cover especially in the advanced manual. There's a bit of Chinenglish but not to much. I had a bit of trouble getting the wires in the tiny terminal strips but this is common to all drives I've used. The only negative with the drive so far is that my other US made drives are either NEMA compatible or the have an optional NEMA bracket that can be added, these.provide holes for cable clamps and the drives can be used without any kind of enclosure. So far with less than an hours time using it I like it a lot. There are other Chinese drives available a lot cheaper but I paid the extra for Hopewind primarily due to their Web site resources for support.

What a great piece of equipment. I love the fact that I can hook this up to a PC and program it, but don't expect to just plug and play it. You need a special adapter to do this. Overall it works very well and I will be purchasing another one. The manual is pretty straightforward but the chenglish leave a little to be desired ,however it's not terrible. If you have some experience with inverter drives this will be a piece of cake.

Picked up this motor control to bump up the speed of a 3 phase surface grinder motor and it works great. Bought an extension cord, cut it in half, wired it up in about 5 minutes and set up the unit. The instructions read like War and Peace but after about 10 minutes of tinkering with the settings I had it figured out and spun my 3450 motor to 10K.It also has a lot of integration features like external control but I did not use any of those. I only needed a 'dumb' freq control.

Worked great right out of the box. It did take a minute to realize you had to use the up button to increase the frequency. The USB interface cable was in the box - it's not clear that it would be. The default max frequency is 50. I used the software interface to set it to 60. You can set the max frequency to 300 (run the motor at 5x the plate speed). Doing so would likely be a bad idea. All in all it's a great product

Excellent built quality, very versatile and very thorough instruction manual.I just purchased my second one for a different application that required a bit more customization. Hopewind provides two instruction manuals - basic and advanced, accommodating various experience levels of users and complexity of tasks.
