The Black Chokeberry is a large, highly ornamental, deciduous shrub with dark green, glossy leaves in summer, turning fiery red in autumn, before falling in winter. White flowers in summer are followed by clusters of glossy, black berries, which are very acid in flavour. The taste will improve if the berries are allowed to hang on the bush until after the first frosts. Very attractive to birds.
