No question, it works
Against the opinion of many, this magnetic process does decrease the hardwater buildup on sinks and toilets. No question, it works. It does not soften water but it changes how the hard water minerals stick to things. My water is 25 gpg, which is very hard water no iron though. With untreated water the upkeep is a large amount of work, time, and costs. Normally it is required to use the most harsh chemicals, soaking, and scrubbing. I installed this in early January and by mid-February there is no question it is working. There is a shine to the sinks that did not exist prior and I have not had to clean them of scale. The toilets have not been cleaned with harsh chemicals or heavy scrubbing and they to have a shine to them. While it might not be easy to explain it does do something that is helpful for those with very hardwater. Maybe it does not work as good with water that is not as hard, that might explain why others didn't notice a change.Initially I did not scrub the sinks and toilets after installing and did not notice a change. But decided to clean them well to get a better check. I had to use a pumice bar to get everything clean but that was the last time I had to do that. I could see a difference in a week but still was not 100% sure. After 4 weeks I'm convinced. It makes my house so water much easier on everything.I only have this on my cold water side, I'm not sure how the hot water side would work given the heat. I have a water softener on the hot water side but not the cold water. And having the cold water softened had a lot of issues to it, it would be costly to reroute pipes to make room to put the softener near the main pipe. And it would require getting an electrical line installed to run the softener. And it would cost more in salt and of course the salt in the drinking water side. The harder the water the more sodium that is exchanged into the water. With the hardwater I have, it would be a large amount of sodium. This solution is the right one for the cold water, no question to it. Hopefully this helps someone thinking about this approach.UPDATE: Almost 4 months later since I installed this device. The results are great, hardwater build up is very slow or non-existent. I have no build up in my sinks, that is amazing. I had a small amount of build up in the toilet recently (4 months later) but it was easy to clean it. I'm only using standard toilet cleaners at this time, have not had to use the strong acid type yet. When I open the top of the toilet tank I see a lot of small floating particles. I tried flushing the tank multiple times but the particles do not go away or reduce in number. I think this is the hardware minerals that have attached together to a larger size. This is probably why the hardware problems are less of an issue. The minerals appear to stick to themselves rather than to everything they touch. Stilll recommend this product, it has greatly helped my situation.

Does not work
Very easy to install. With all the warning on the box is about how strong the magnets were and be it it says to be very careful of the magnets and to hold them at least a foot apart before installation . I I did not find them very strong at all. I have only installed it for a couple of weeks but seem to notice that the soap seems to Suds more. Have not noticed any change in the hard water marks in the sinks and toilets but it says it takes a couple of months. I live in an apartment and place them on the inlet pipes coming into the apartment. It is a PVC piping about 1 in in diameter and is before the hot water tank. I used the foam between the pipe and the magnets the magnet stick together and I fastened them with velcro strap. I guess only time will tell. Now been a couple of months I do not see any change in the hard water deposits in the sinks or toilets.

Works when helping the Large Kit
Lime is prevalent in our area. We bought this product with skepticism, but we're glad we bough it. We installed ourselves - I have no idea why the "Expert installation" is so expensive. It took me more time to read the instructions, than to actually install - and it is not difficult to install.Look at the two pictures I have uploaded with the review. In one picture you'll see five months of lime build-up on a blue bucket that catches the drips from our shower. After installing the large magnetic water kit, along with this small unit, I replaced the bucket with a new blue bucket. The other photograph shows substantially less lime scale build-up in the same amount of time.As mentioned, we did use this smaller unit with the large two-unit combo. Our household is a 2400 square foot townhouse with two adults and two young adult children. We also noticed a difference on our glass dishes and laundry handling. The only reason this product didn't get five stars is because it didn't completely eliminate the lime problem - but it made a huge difference!-----------------Four-year UPDATE-----------------We've had this and the larger kit installed for four years now. We are still happy with the results of this magnet system to help with the lime in our water. I used to have to replace washers in the faucets every year because of the lime build-up damaging the washers. I haven't replaced any washers in over three years. This product does not help with all hard water issues, but it definitely has helped with our lime-based hard water issue. I recommend it to anyone having issues with lime in their water.I have not been compensated or influenced by anyone for this review. Look at my feedback history. I am critical on poorly performing products. Even this product didn't get five stars out of me. If 4.5 was an option, it would get that.

Not sure if they are working
I am not sure if this is working. I have two pairs of these installed around out main water line but have not seen any significant difference yet (3+ months). Magnets are not fixed to the brackets. They are held only by the magnetic force without any markings so once they come off, good luck on ensuring you have the magnets oriented in the right direction. They should really be marked.I thought about building my own but the cost savings is not significant. Smooth coating job on the brackets alone are worth the cost.
