Beware — this is NOT a USB-compatible cash drawer
Beware. Despite the Q&A talking about using this cash drawer via USB with a Square Stand, it can NOT be used this way. This cash drawer has only an ethernet (?) connection allowing it to be connected with a Square Stand indirectly through a compatible printer.Unfortunately, I found this out after the 30 day return policy on my purchase has passed. Also unfortunately, this seller (despite being very polite) was firm in refusing to let me exchange my purchase for a cash drawer I could actually use.

Weird layaout of cash and coin drawer. Can't see on Amazon picture, don't reccommend.
I got the AGP model they sell here on Amazon for about $10 more a few years back for my first Square Stand setup. I saw this was the drawer that Square now recommends on their site, and the price on Amazon was even better than the first drawer I bought, so I figured what the heck, I'll just get this one. The drawer seems to be built well, HOWEVER the inside of the drawer, which they don't show you a picture of in the description is ridiculous. It has 8 slots for coins, so that means each slot is half the size of a normal coin slot. It makes absolutely no sense who in their right mind would design that. I've been in business for 20 years and have had many cash registers and this is the first time I've ever seen anything so crazy. Also the clamps that hold the bills in place are made of metal, which you'd think would be better since they'd be more sturdy than all the plastic clamps you've used in registers for the last 30 years, but the design of them is strange and makes it a pain to pull them up. I wouldn't recommend this drawer if you've ever used another cash register before in your lifetime because it will just annoy you.

I recently opened business and I got an Android tablet to use with the Square POS system. Majority of Square POS systems, I've noticed are being used hand in hand with the Apple iPad. So I had to do quite a bit of research to find out which cash drawer and receipt printer was compatible with the Android. This cash drawer is great with an Android and can be used along with a USB receipt printer. The Star TSP 100 series in particular. It came with a pair of keys to use when one wants to open the drawer manually and also came with the appropriate cable necessary to connect with the USB receipt printer. For this cash drawer/receipt printer set up to be used with an Android, a USB on the go adapter is needed. I got the inateck card reader HUB.

Serviceable, wish it had sloped coin bins
I bought this because a big-name software vendor failed to deliver a cash drawer I purchased from them to the right address, and buying this with Prime helped me minimize register downtime in a new store. My only real complaint, that I thought was worth a star, is that the coin bins, which are in two rows, are awkward to retrieve coins from compared to a "traditional" drawer with only one row of coin bins. The sides are not sloped enough.

The keys are deceptive. I was thinking that it would open with keys and with the receipt printer. But the keys are for ornament only. It only opens manually with a little switch underneath, which is useless since I have a monitor sitting on top of the register, which means I cant manually open the register if my POS system does not allow for manual opening.

The keys do not go in well so it’s hard to open without going through the point of sale system.
