First let me say that this is a very good looking shavette. The wood handle is very nice and I believe if treated with Mineral Oil from time to time, it should last. The coating on the metal was good and even. I did not have any issues with blades falling out as other reviewers have described. I did take the time to ensure everything was snug prior to using. I did not use the blades that it came with so I can not comment on their quality. I have 2 shaves so far with it using Dorco DE blades. First shave was as good as I get from my DE razor. Not baby butt smooth but very fine. The second shave (using a new blade) was a little rougher. I did not take my time like I did on the first shave and did manage to get some razor burn and a small nick. That was totally operator error. Too much pressure and in too big a hurry. Overall, I really like this razor and it allows me to get a precise shave, especially around my mustache and goatee. Very pleased.**UPDATE 04/04/2019** I have been shaving with this shavette regularly and I get an outstanding shave! I have had zero issues with the blades staying put and have not had to re-tighten any of the pivots. Love it!

I love these type of straight razor! I like the tight fit and the balance of the razor. I opened it and balanced it on top of my finger to see if it was balanced. It was good. I like the feel and the blades were ok. You can get better blade but nothing to bad about the one they sent. I saw a complaint that the blades went dull fast. Do you try to use them over and over? These usually are one and done. I will use more the once if I’m just edging myself but other that I’m good. Hope this helps and hopefully this product stays at a 5 for me.

Great starting kit to any guy out there who is looking for a much less expensive alternative to safety razors, or simply looking to start using something a whole lot more masculine and dangerous than the average dude. Razor itself has a very natural and manly look to it, with the wood scale and matte black blade, and is well balance and feels good in hand. The blades that come with aren’t top quality, but will still give you a nice shave. My personal reason for buying this was because I was tired of blowing a ton of money in Gillette razors while they rant to the world about how toxic masculinity is, and wanted something that had everything I needed (except cream and aftershave of course). Took a little getting used to, but after two shaves I began to love it. It has became a part of my routine, and is almost as beneficial for mental relaxation as it is for keeping my face lookin fresh.

So the razor is alright, it doesn't have the same problem everyone else is having with the blade falling out. However, the screw holding the metal piece to the wooden handle comes loose and sometimes falls out. Needing constant adjustments or screw stabilizing fluid. The lever to hold the two blade holding pieces is very flimsy and I almost broke it off while messing with it, aluminum for sure. The metal for the blade holder is solider but the black color is painted on, so consistent use has worn away at the color. The wood handle is nice and hasn't worn at all, which is nice but it isn't disinfectable.Balance of the razor itself is solid. Moderate weight and we'll balanced weight between the wooden handle and metal razor.

Love it for the price works great, looks better then just the boring silver, and the case is awesome for travel. I use it on clients and a lot of people were saying the blades dull quick which you're supposed to change out the blade after every use on clients. You can stretch it if you're only using it on yourself for two or possibly three uses but the blades aren't meant for that.

A real great razor. It is beautiful and a wonderful product for the price. Just switch out the razor every time before you shave. I use it for my neck, side burns, and back of neck. Works great! Makes me feel like James Bond while I take my time shaving, thinking of the day ahead of me.

The blades provided are unusable to shave with. I tried 3- all terrible. I don't mean they are not as sharp as needed to provide that straight razor shave. I mean YOU CAN'T SHAVE WITH THEM! They just don't cut hair at all! I put a Safety Razor blade (cut in half) in it and it shaves very well but they might as well not ship the blades included. The razor itself is fine and the only reason I'd considering keeping it.

I bought this for my boyfriend to try and see if he liked shaving with a straight razor instead of a regular razor and he loves it. I really liked the wooden handle. I think it's a good first straight razor to have and try and the price is decent as well. It came on time and with replacement razors.
