I''m a teacher looking for forest school ideas. When I first opened this book and read here and there, I was very disappointed. It seems geared for folks who have spent very little time outdoors. One idea is to go outside with your child on a cold day and enjoy noticing your breath in the air. Really? What human has not done that? But on closer inspection it did have some good ideas, such as a rock scavenger hunt and roly-poly races. Many ideas are very simple, but simple is sometimes just the thing. This book would be perfect for a parent with very young children who grew up disconnected from nature and wants lots of basic ideas to get started.

Wonderful book!!!
The demeanor of the child on the cover of this book reminded me of the determined walk of my granddaughter. I bought it for my son, who is constantly trying to find something to do with his 3 year old on a limited budget. Lately, I'm not liking what I'm hearing about kids being brought up in front of a computer and/or TV screen, so I thought this would be an inventive way to remove children from in front of their TV 'babysitters' and bring them back out into Nature, God's classroom. Much to my surprise, my son loved it and commented on it to me after Christmas! It's arranged by seasons, with ideas for an activity per week that costs nothing, and teaches wonderous things to children about the world they live in. Each season contains several activities to do outside with little ones. This is truly the way to create intelligence in our children without all the electronic gizmos and gadgets! I can't recommend this more highly!!!

So happy I purchased this book!
I homeschool my two little ones and this book is great for offering inspiring (low cost or free) things we can do while outside. It’s become must carry around at all times book. Simple things like how many leaves are on a clover; there’s a 4 leafed one too - see if you can find one! What a fun game that could be for littles and bigs alike. Do yourself a favor and get this book.

Loved that it has learning objectives!
We love this book! I made a list of activities based on this for my prek classroom and then do them at home with my kinder and toddler as well. I love that each activity goes in depth and tells you learning objectives that are being taught.

I love dirt.
Bought this book for me and my granddaughter. To teach her about nature and to explore what's under her feet. What's in Grandmas garden. Alot of great projects. Haven't had an opportunity to try them yet. Been very cold here, but looking forward to them

not what I expected
From the cover this looks like my kind of book - but I was completely surprised. I was expecting bright colourful pictures and photos, easy to follow activities ans inspiration. there are no pictures really - the odd little sketch of a bird or flower at the start of each section. The activities are written as chapters, making it hard to just grab it and flick through to pick something out. Plus nothing really stands out to me as totally original and inspiring - there's nothing new in here. Very disappointed. If I hadn't forgotten I had bought it (not like me at all - I love books especially new ones!) I would be sending it back.

Great for ideas
As a teacher I was looking for a book to give me inspiration but most importantly practical ideas. This book did exactly that! Nicely split into seasons and well written; it was an easy read. The only down side was that I live in Scotland and the book was very American, still, ideas are ideas and I'm pretty sure anyone anywhere will get their fair share from this book too.
