Merriam-Webster’s Elementary Dictionary Updated Edition

My son is in the 3rd grade and has to write weekly definitions to his spelling words as a homework assignment. I tried several dictionaries out and couldn't seem to find the right one for him. The 1st one had words that were way too small. The 2nd one was a large print dictionary, but I found that it didn't give descriptive definitions and it didn't have all of his spelling words inside. I was starting to get discouraged.....and then I purchased this dictionary. IT IS WONDERFUL!!! I go on and on about how thrilled I am with it every time my son and I use it. The writing is just the right size and there are many colorful and descriptive pictures to help further explain some words. I have found every single word in it. It is thick. The first time that I purchased this dictionary it appeared to be a used product. It had a few scratches on it and a few marks on some pages. I contacted customer service, and I received a replacement the very next day. Now THAT is some speedy service! The replacement was in perfect condition. I just chalked it up to knowing that these things happen from time to time. The issue was resolved in such a timely manner that it didn't even matter anymore. PLUS...I was so thrilled with how wonderful this product was that I couldn't be anything but thrilled about it. I have no complaints whatsoever and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with an elementary aged child.

I bought this to help my wife in her ESL classes. It’s ease of use and many pictures are proving very useful to her study of English language

I made this purchase in hopes to ignite a firey passion for learning with actual physical manipulation of sources for research in my 8 year old son. I am still hopeful as this dictionary is really cool. I believe it is relatable to the intended demographic. I like that it is more than just definitions that can be learned or discovered but other morsels of knowledge are on each page. It's a wonderful resource for self guided learning and a great teaching tool.

Truth be told, I actually ordered this dictionary for my grandson due to a one star review from someone who disliked it because there was no reference to a homosexual lifestyle or the alphabet soup lifestyle. Now before you go and flame me with the typical progressive name calling that we have all come to expect, I am a small business owner and I have 2 homosexuals, one female and one male, that work for me. They are respected because they are good people. SO let's take this one step further. The one star reviewer makes no mention that there is also no entry in this dictionary for "heterosexual" either. A typical move of the progressive indoctrination crowd. Here is a wonderful dictionary that lets children be children. As children age, they can discover and explore in their own appropriate time the vagaries of our age.

Happy with this dictionary. Sent previous “new addition” dictionary back as it has adapted to the culture and changed definitions of gender as seen below . Go with this one , safe and not confusing for your young readers :)

I bought this for my children. They used it a lot for their schooling and when reading to look up words, they didn’t know. Websters dictionary is always a classic and highly dependable.

What I love about the dictionary it has pictures so it won't bore my 8y.o.When the pememic happened 3yrs ago the kids had2use computers.So once school was opened back to the usual books not as much computers.Well my kid was struggling at first since school became boring no more playing on the computer.So this dictionary was like a blessing.That my kid wanted to read the dictionary like it was a regular reading book.Didn't correct her in not reading book because it actually is if u love2learn plus my grandmother did the same with me growing up since we had2learn English.

The colors, the pictures , the ease of access for a growing mind. This Dictionary is the best for excited learners, my kids didn't want to set it down. The day it arrived they spent three hours reading , giggling, and learning together. I have three children and the amount of joy to show each other something they found inside that they liked and learn together . Just melts my heart , sometimes not so much with all other things 😂😂 Give the Gift of Knowledge to those whom matter most with this dictionary
