D200 Remote Shutter Release by Digital Concepts
I just received this item today, did quite a bit of testing (about 200 shots) and what a joy it is. It works perfectly as advertised, very responsive, ergonomically fits well in the hand and very easy to use. Construction of the item is nice and solid and the cord has a nice thickness to it. It is very easy to connect (if you are familiar with your camera), even in low light conditions and the screw in cap is nice so you do not have to worry about it falling out. I use a D200, lost my MC-30 and thought I would give this a try on a whim...I am so happy I got this over the MC-30. For less than ¼ of the price for the MC-30, this is a steal and I highly recommend it for both novices and professionals (if you're a pro, get 2 in case 1 gets lost or somehow broken in the field).

Vivitar release is great; unfortunately that's not what was sent...
In April 2013 when I ordered the Vivitar Remote Shutter Release from A&R Photo Video via this page at Amazon A&R sent the Vivitar one pictured here; and it lived on my camera and served me faithfully for almost two years until the cable sheathing split near where it enters the bracket on the camera end, and the wiring inside the cable started shorting out. Even then it did not hurt the camera was just inconsistent in operation. But in March 2015 even though the picture on this page is still of the same Vivitar cable release, the description says "by Jianisi", but the cable release A&R sent was one made by ZEIKOS which is far inferior. Firstly the angle that the cable comes out from the camera is wrong, it faces to far outward interfering with the RRS quick release clamp lever when the D300 camera is in the vertical position in the RRS L bracket, and because it sticks out so far to the right its more difficult to fit into my camera bag as well. Also the cable is much thinner and more tangle prone than the one from Vivitar (which never got tangled up), and the end with the release button is smaller and does not work as well as the Vivitar did. When I emailed A&R asking to please send a Vivitar one, they promptly refunded me for the ZEIKOS even though I didn't ask for a refund. Good service, just not the item pictured here...I'd give the Vivitar **** it was a great cable release, worked every bit as well and almost as long as the Nikon MC30 it replaced, and because of its larger knurled ring on the camera end was a tad easier to thread into place too.But the ZEIKOS that was sent, even though it can trigger the shutter is only worth one star because of its poor design as described above.

Excellent value
I bought this item for my Nikon D200. I was pleasantly surprised at the good quality of materials and workmanship and the actual performance in real life situations. The threaded connector for the camera end is precision-machined, the wire is sturdy and the fit and finish of the handle is perfect. As advertised, pressing the button half-way makes the camera focus, and pressing all the way releases the shutter. I have not used the bulb function, but it has one. It can be used in a dark studio because the handle has anti-slip bumps on the site opposite the shutter release button. Altogether an amazing deal when compared to the Nikon equivalent that sales for $61 or so.

Works great, but treat it kindly
I bought this release and one off of ebay about the same time. This one worked great, but the cord broke from my moving the tripod around. I will admit that I am a bit rough on it and will carry the tripod around with the camera and release still attached. After this one broke, I started using the one from ebay. It was horrible and messed with the settings on my camera. So I am buying 2 more of these to have an extra on hand.

Cheap, workable, trigger mechanism sometimes sticks
This is worth the couple of $$$ to have a remote trigger release for the D700. One word of caution, they have a single spring that sits under a thumb-sized trigger. Sometimes after you push the trigger mechanism it can get stuck in the "down" position when the trigger gets caught under the lip of the device. That's not a huge deal for me as this gadget is not a critical part of my rig, but well worth noting if you need a "flawless" remote control. For the prosumer types it'll work just fine.

disappointed
I ordered this in time to take photos of the upcoming Fireworks for the 4th of July with my Nikon D300. Everything seemed to work well, it screwed in nice and tight. It took the shots, but then it wouldn't allow me to pull up my photos in the view finder while plugged in....I got it to do it once, but there seemed to be a loose connection in the trigger. If I wiggled it around a little the preview of the photo would come into view, but only for a second and then the view finder goes black again. I can't get to my menu to change settings either. Not useful for me. :(

Bait & Switch or Incompetence?
I ordered the Digital Concepts remote release but Amazon sent a Vivitar remote release instead Vivitar Wired Remote Shutter Release for Nikon D3S/D3X / D300S / D700 DSLR Cameras . I have ordered from Amazon successfully in the past so at first I was unsure whether this was "bait & switch" or just incompetence in Amazon's shipping department. After reading several reviews of the Digital Concepts remote, it is apparent that this is not an isolated incident. Not only did Amazon ship the incorrect remote but the listing plainly states "shipped from and sold by A&R Photo Video, Inc.". The Vivitar remote was shipped by Video Camera Center. When I contacted Amazon as well as Video Camera center, they wanted me to return the Vivitar AT MY EXPENSE. The cost of postage would probably exceed the value of the Vivitar remote. This order was a replacement for another Digital Concepts remote release that has performed flawlessly with my Nikon D300S. I can recommend it highly.
