Lots of detail. If you're going to do this journey, you'll buy this book anyway. The 1 star missing is because I wish this or another book would deal with my really dense questions about things like how to get a taxi in city x and other mundane questions like that, that would give me more confidence in planning.

Looks great
I think this will be an extremely useful book to have when I take the Trans-Siberian express in the summer. It seems to have virtually all the towns and cities along the way, and the names of the places, sites, etc. are given in English with the Russian letters underneath, so hopefully I'll know where I am! It has Time Zones, as well, and all of the usual things you would want to know: street maps; places of interest; where to eat, stay and drink; emergency numbers; embassies, e

Excellent book.
I wanted to travel my Trans Mongolian Express and needed detailed information. This treasure of information contains every thing an intrepid traveller might need. I travelled from St. Petersburg to Beijing via Mongolia stopping in Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Ulan Bataar, Beijing. And this book provided me with every information in detail of virtually every kilometre of my journey. It is a must for anyone intending to take this once in a lifetime journey.

Did the writer do the trip himself lately?
I just came back from Russia after doing the whole Transsiberian Railway back to back and used this guide as my bible. But boy can you go wrong using this book. Even though its the latest edition alot of things are not correct or up to date anymore. Timetables not correct, prices for various admissions not correct, some restaurants don't even exist anymore and so on and so on. I will be contacting the author also with my comments about this book. The book is great for your basic information but do not depend on it. You will end up with the wrong information.Thats why i'm guessing if writer of this book actually travelled the Transsiberian Express in the last 10 years or so?

Invaluable resource
I was very pleased to be able to purchase this at the best price I could see on offer. I find it more informative than the Lonely Planet guide to the same trip and hae used it for all my planning.

Best book for information on a trip of a lifetime
This is the most comprehensive book for this trip. All you need to know and which route to take. I've based my trip on the info in this little book.
