This Book Nails It!
This is one of the clearest most straightforward DIY books on a subject that has been close to me for decades; organizational culture. Most DIY books fall short of their stated objectives and never quite provide the promised roadmap for implementing the shared principles behind the topic.David Friedman, in Culture by Design introduces a time tested system he developed in an earlier company. The success of the system is rooted in sound anthropological notions of behaviors linked to culture. He also successfully acknowledges then addresses how to overcome our human tendency to not see through the initiatives we as leaders have the best of intentions of completing. Rituals, it turns out, are the crucial component of completing the habit loop that ultimately establishes a new behavior as an habitual behavior. This easy reading book has the capacity to provide organizations with a roadmap for implementing a culture that will pay dividends for years to come. Check it out!

Practical and helpful!
I read the book as part of a restructuring that I was responsible for encompassing the entire organization. We did not have a set culture that was talked about and celebrated. This book helped me navigate the process and introduce some incredibly simple but effective tools. I recommend the book, although it does lose a bit of momentum toward the end. Overall a great resource!

Practical advice on designing your company's culture...and making it stick
Until reading this I had always believed that an organization's culture was something that only emerged from the shared experiences of the people working within it. That you might be able to influence it a little, but much more would be like pushing a piece of string. After reading this book I learned you can actually design a culture. I learned that culture is less a touchy-feely thing than something that can be purposefully molded. This is a simple and engaging read, that clearly outlines principles and practical steps to implement them. If you are considering approaches for addressing the health of your company (or team), I highly recommend this book.

Very useful book on Culture
I loved this book. Most business books that focus on Culture are very lofty in their ideals and short on actionable things to do. This book lays out a great strategy for improving your company's culture and then gets right down into the trenches to lay out what you need to do to implement it. Concise and easy to read too. I highly recommend.

As a consultant, I have worked with Culture for a long time. when I first saw David's material I was skeptical. The simplicity of his Fundamentals Process just seemed too easy. I have since become a committed believer and we use the process within our own organization. Culture by Design is a clean, clear, succinct how-to template for transforming the culture of any organization. Simplicity does not mean easy, but building high performance into the fabric of day to day operations in a company never was. Any thoughtful leader could take this book and apply it's process to their organization. Thanks David for this gift to all who dare!Craig L. Clark,CEO/Founder Momentum Consulting
