This is the easiest, best looking was to get wood stained/dyed black. It looks great and goes on easy. However after it dries it can rub off a little if you don't do anything else, so I would advise to also seal it with an oil coat, wax, varnish, or poly. The Rubio Oil plus 2c charcoal goes very well with this. There was no noticeable smell while applying it which is also great. It dries very quickly.

I really like the way this finish turned out on this hutch I made. I used the intense black precolor with the Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C in Black. Very easy to use and apply. It was warm and humid at the time of application (92 degrees F with humidity around 96%) With the high humidity, I was surprised at how quickly I had to come back and wipe off the precolor and the Oil Plus 2C. Instructions state "Start wiping excess oil away around 15 minutes from applying it..." I thought for sure the humidity would prolong the drying. I had to start that process in about 5 minutes. Of course, each situation will be different. I will use Rubio Monocoat again!!

Give a jet black base to oak or ash. Finish with monocoat white (or gold - ooh, gold!) for a perfect, easy, cerused finish. I put a final coat of universal maintenance oil, Pure, on top, and did not see much color change, only added a little sheen and protection.

Rubio is really a great product! Although it came damaged. Weirdly the box it came in was fine. What's with the tape on top?? We requested another.

It's about time a product does exactly as you want it to do. Wow!
