Amazing
I had been using miracle grow orchid food and the phalaenopsis orchids were doing ok. Just ok. I can’t remember whether one of YouTube orchid channels recommended this or if I just scrolled through Amazon and read reviews. Honestly can’t remember. But the first time I used it all of my orchids were instantly happy. The yellow one in the back of the photo had extremely tiny buds forming prior to using this and within a week they blew up to huge blooms. The white one I had just bought from the grocery store and nurseries are known for packing the roots in moss, soaking the heck out of them and then telling you to put ice in it once a week (DO NOT DO THAT. ICE IS FOR BEVERAGES not tropical plants that are epiphytes). So whenever I get a new orchid I repot it in good quality orchid bark. It’s a 50/50 shot that you’ll lose blooms doing that, but it’s better for the long term health of the plant to get it out of that mess. I also use orchid pots that allow air and have lots of holes or an orchid carousel pot (look them up. Pricy but amazing). The new orchid only dropped one bloom and is doing great. The other orchids blooms died a few months ago after blooming for several months, and it usually takes 6-12 months for a new spike to shoot up. After using this fertilizer it’s shooting up 2 new spikes and looking amazing. Orchid spikes don’t have to be cut after blooms are done if they remain green, but if they die they should. Don’t toss out the orchid when the blooms die. They come back. I also mist the roots once or twice a day with a misting bottle with plain water because with the forced hot air heat they dry out quick. To use this fertilizer I use the scoop provided to add one scoop into my single basin sink and add a few gallons of water (so I use a weak solution) and position the orchid pot and all in the sink with the leaves propped on the end he of the sink so they aren’t in the water. The water is about half way up the pot. Then soak for about 15-30 minutes depending on how long it’s been between watering and how much heat there is in the house. Then drain them, dry the bottom of the planters off good and put them in an east facing window. This is crazy good fertilizer and much cheaper than others I have seen. And I only use one scoop and the container is large so it’ll last a year or more probably. Definitely give it a try.
