Been looking at this for a couple years. Very happy I decided to go ahead with my purchase.

Very beautiful but the app is horrible to use and the on off switch does not work. I exchange the power cable and does dis not work on replacement cable either. Now I have to unplug everytime I want to turn off.

Excellent build quality and packaging. Excellent product really! But the software it requires is absolutely not up to par with the product. While the design of the app is excellent, with many solid features and content - it simply doesn't work most of the time. It took me 2 hours of trying to connect the device to my wifi, it just kept failing for no reason. Finally I got it to connect, and then it took another hour trying to get it to download patterns, kept failing there too. Then I finally had all my patterns and went to play the new playlist I created, and it has more issues connecting again. Switching between patterns doesn't work properly either. I did finally get it shuffling between a good list of random patterns, seems to be working now. I'm afraid to change any settings to disturb it again..

I usually have success with WiFi connected devices when other struggle, so I thought I'd take a chance on this device. Disappointment. Initial setup couldn't be easier - plug it in, pour in sand and smooth, add the ball. The app and connectivity are a different story. The device connected right away and went into a 'clean' pattern. OK, I'll let it smooth out the sand, I can wait. In the meantime I chose 7 different patterns to add to my playlist. Choosing patterns for a playlist, adjusting the lights and speed of the ball are the only things that worked from the app. At no time would the playlist work. If I managed to get it to play at all, only the first pattern was enabled and on completion it went back to 'clean'. The playlist never advanced beyond pattern 1. I tried to set controls to make it pause after a pattern and if it did it would never restart, so again only pattern 1 was used. Using the device by manually selecting a pattern was hit or miss. Sometimes after starting the pattern it would revert to the 'clean' pattern. Several times the ball moved out to the outer edge and got stuck with the magnet and its mechanism making loud clicking noises like gears popping on a plastic drivetrain (which it probably was). The schedule function caused the device to lose WiFi every night. I had to manually restart each morning which means unplug, hold in the in-line switches for several moments while plugging back in. All in all the scheduler is pointless since the effect is the same as unplugging the unit overnight. No relies from the helpdesk through email or Facebook. Troubleshooting is crowdsourced because Homedics doesn't respond in a reasonable time. Little to no help from their website because this model is not listed and does not behave the same as the models that are. For example, the website FAQ reset instructions tell you to do the unplug/hold the switches in/replug routine until a green light flashes. My unit never flashed green and always went to solid blue light. Is this what should happen? Does a blue light mean something else ios wrong? Who knows, Homedics isn't saying anything. To the few who enjoy a working relationship with their Homedics ST-200 Drift, you have been blessed. For the rest of us it's dumb luck getting a functioning unit. If you buy this because you think you might either be lucky or somehow magical, keep all the original packing. Odds are you'll want to return it.

Worked well for the 1st 30 mins till it updated. Didn't realize the lights wouldn't sync over an internet connection at speeds under 2.5 Mbps, not high-speed 5 Mbps. It still draws designs, though.
