Bought these hoot latches to hopefully just make it that much more difficult to steal the Jeep. Installation was very simple for people with basic skills. You will need a 10mm & 13mm sockets with wrench plus a 4mm hex wrench or bit. Simple as unbolting the existing latches and bolting on the new ones. Quality seems good, they definitely give a solid latching to the hood. Locks are simple, and probably easy to pick, but the point of this is to make it harder than the next jeep. Thieves commonly first open the hood and disable the horn/light by pulling fuses and this should make that a bit harder. Overall very happy. Would be cool if they came in more colors, but black looks great on my rig.

Everything was good until it came down to the installation. I have a 2009 jeep wrangler unlimited (4 door) and I watched several YouTube videos on how to install. The bulk of the videos made it seem like it was going to be a piece of cake. The ball size is mentioned in all of the videos were all wrong. In my particular vehicle there are two corner supports in the front of the engine bay on the left and the right. You cannot get any size ratchet or wrench in there to mount the latches to the bottom. I had to get pivoting nutdrivers to make this happen, long ones too. Overall the quality is good they look nice and they are functional. Even though it was a pain in the butt to install I would do it again.

It's no secret the Wrangler engine bay is vulnerable to would be thieves and pranksters. Just a couple of latches are all that stand between your engine compartment and those with nefarious intentions. Not so now with the RT-TCZ locking latches installed! I chose the black finish to match the orange-black scheme of my rig and they look great. Installation is very easy. And the plastic pads underneath the metal pieces should do a great job of protecting the finish. I'll admit they don't look quite as nice (or classic) as the factory latches, BUT THEY LOCK! That being said, they look good for lockable latches and seem very secure. Don't know how they'll stand up over time given the lock is open to the elements but so far they have held up very well. HIGHLY recommend to any Wrangler owner who wants to protect their investment!

I was looking for a way to lock up the hood of my wrangler to prevent any theft and this was the perfect product. The quality compared to the price is amazing this product is extremely sturdy and works very well. It’s also important to mention that being sent two sets of keys is great just incase you loose one or two. My only gripe about this product was the installation some of the bolts where hard to get to and required a little finesse. All in all this is a great product with great value also having the peace of mind that what is under the hood is safe is unmatched.

I ordered these for my '13 Wrangler once the original rubber latches split (Az heat/sun). Came the next day as advertised and install took less than 30mins ( I had already removed the originals). I didn't remove the grill or reach from below. There was just enough room to squeeze in a 1/4in rachet and 13mm deep socket to remove the lower nut. Yes, it was a bit tricky and patience was required but it was doable. The hardest part was getting the nut on the new one since there is little space for your fingers but it is possible. Latches fit tight, even on the lowest setting, but latch as expected (they came in the locked position) and hold the hood down tight. Remains to be seen how the locks will hold up to dust but we shall see.

I bought these as a replacement for the old hood latches I installed on my jeep, it was difficult to install and the instructions are less than clear, I don't know if I just couldn't read it properly but the instructions that came with it was unlegible, I couldn't make sense of it. the way you're supposed to install it is have a ratchet with a few extensions holding the nut in place from behind and under the front quarter panel, and use a hex key to tighten the screw from the top or outside the fender, the visible side, the instructions didn't say that so we stripped out the screw on one of the latches so it's not tightened all the way, less then handtight is what it's at and with it being stripped as in my first photo above it's revealed that the metal underneath is rusted already and just painted over? Talk about product longevity, and that's how it came straight out of the box when I had it delivered. it comes with 4 keys to use to unlock them, and in the second amd third photos above, the locking mechanism wasn't properly assembled but it spins aswell the whole thing when you try and use the keys, mines broke when I tried to lock it, so first install and first use, I'm down a key and the hood latch screw is less then handtight. TL;DR Instructions are useless, you need to hold the back screw in place with a tool and screw it in from the top with another tool, quality could be improved, keys are fragile

Easy install but it's a very tight fit on 2025 JL. The hood is pulled down so tight that it's difficult to lock and unlock. I may re-install the factory latches.

Because they are metal, my son thought they woukd be prone to chipping, so we returned them for a refund. Pretty nice looking thou !

Doers the job, however lock struggles to turn sometimes, a bit of a concern
