One of the best in quality and warmth I have ever owned
You will not regret buying this bag. One of the best in quality and warmth I have ever owned. I am a huge gear junkie and am always buying name brand items. I decided to buy this bag based on prior reviews. I wanted a bag that was down, lightweight and wasn't going to bankrupt me. Hands down an excellent buy! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for cold weather camping. I used this about a month back and camped out in 0 degree weather. I was almost too warm! Don't waste your money on anything else.. this is the bag you want!

3 month backpacking trip, 5F is a joke
Fully Honest Review; I was not paid or given free product. Though I wish it was free after the hassle. Since this bag is listed as "currently unavailable" I'm going to leave my review in 2 different spots to warn people about the product. A large amount of this review will pertain to any arctic monsoon bag, I bought the Winter 5 degree bag . For sizing and comfort comparisons, I'm 5'10, lean 170lbsCONs: As many others have mentioned, the pull strings break from inside the sleeves on both the hood and chest strings. So hopefully you have a needle and thread handy or you read this and reinforce the pull strings before you leave for a trip. I always carry a small sewing kit for emergencies *see picture of my knotted sewing mess with red string* 2nd: NO ONE LIKES COLD FEET! The loss of down fill over time and the down shifting inside the baffles should be expected, but after 2-3 weeks of use (14-21 nights) this bag had cold spots all over the place on the bottom side, most notably, the foot box. The down-fill thinned out or displaced to such an extreme that you can almost see through the bag. The only thing between you and the elements is two layers of nylon. Be prepared with wool socks! 3rd, the comfort rating of 5 degrees fahrenheit is a joke. I tend to run hot during the night and had a really hard time keeping warm inside this bag at 15 degrees after putting on a thermal layer. (most backpackers will tell you to sleep naked or in your underwear. Not possible here) Comfort rating would be closer to the 20degree mark. Hopefully the bag will be warmer when I tear this thing apart and stuff more down into the baffles.PROs: Budget friendly at the Amazon.com price of $150 (last listing I saw was $120-130 marked down from $250). It's a great sleeping bag at a great price for beginners who will likely only spend a few nights a year under the stars and who will probably avoid temperatures lower than 32 Fahrenheit. Plenty of room at 5'10" 170lbs. I'd venture to guess that someone that's 6'-6'2" and up to 220lbs would be fine comfortable in the regular size.

Quality seems really nice however this should not be billed as a backpacking ...
Quality seems really nice however this should not be billed as a backpacking sleeping bag. Even fully compressed in the accompanying bag it is still a foot tall and 9 inches in diameter. I will be returning.UPDATE: I got it out of the package and the quality really is great. I'm a backpackaging novice and though this is a bit big (around 1/3 of my 55L pack) I will be keeping. The quality for price I haven't been able to beat.

Feels like $300+ sleeping bag
I shopped for a sleeping bag sensing that I might be looking for something that didn't exist : A good quality sub +20 F degree bag made of mostly down, relatively lightweight and packable down to a reasonably small size for less than $200. Much to my delight it DOES exist and this is it! This sleeping bag was comfortable and warm during some cold Alaska fall nights, but just as importantly I never overheated which makes me believe that it is genuinely good for the temp range it claims +5 to +50 F. Bonus, its also very nice looking - no weird stylings - just simple grey / orange.

Nice and warm for a bald head
I've slept outdoors at 5 below zero on a cot uncovered in this bag and stayed plenty warm. It's a good bag for the money.

First Impression - good features, we'll see if it lives up to the temperature rating
Disclaimer: I received this tent in exchange for an honest review. Background: I typically spend 20-25 nights a year tent or hammock camping split between car camping in the Midwest and backpacking in the mountains.Im a bit of a gear geek so I am constantly trying new sleeping bags looking for that hidden gem with the great combination of weight, warmth and cost. I am also involved with Boy Scouts so am always on the lookout for a cold-weather sleeping bag that I can recommend for our winter campouts. The Arctic Monsoon Explore W1 seems to be a good choice. This is a mummy style bag with down fill. According to the tag the fill is 80% down but it does not state what type of down and does not list what the other 20% is. It also says “Fro: 1200g” – I will take that to mean 1200 grams (2.6lbs) of fill. The bag uses baffles rather than a simpler sewn-through construction to keep the down from moving around. The baffles are nice size, are filled evenly and loft up well. I do not find any spots lacking insulation.I am 6 foot and 185 pounds – the fit of this bag is just about right. With my head in the hood neither my head nor my feet are pushing up against (flattening out) the ends. Around the shoulders is snug but not confining – I can still move my arm enough to zip/unzip and to pull the drawstring around the face. There is a draft tube behind the zipper and another around the body at shoulder level. The zipper is on the right hand side; it runs smoothly and only catches the fabric once in a while. The zipper is ¾ length so the bag does not open all the way flat, but it does have two pulls so it can be unzipped from the foot end to provide ventilation. The fabric on both the inside and outside is thick enough that they don’t feel fragile and they are nice on the skin. While I would not trust my comfort, let alone my survival, on it the outer fabric does have some water repellency. I sprinkled water on the bag and let it sit for a while. The water beaded up initially then puddled but did not soak through. The bag weighs in right at 4 lbs and packs to 9”x18” – not great for backpacking but not bad for a winter bag.The only thing left to check is the temperature rating. The online description says the lower end of the comfortable temperature range is -8F. Im skeptical of that, but unfortunately I will have to wait a few months for weather to cool off to find out. Im looking forward to trying this bag in the winter and will definitely update my review, and my star-rating if necessary, afterwards.
