Van der Valk: The Complete Series [DVD]

A very clever and well made series on the whole. I loved the views of old Holland. My sister stayed there for a while, just for the herring, and I loved the shops. A very clean country. However, I found the series a little boring at times and at first I thought they would never get out of that tiny office. I only bought it, because "Talking Pictures" showed the first series. Worth a watch, but I wasn't always in the moid.

Absolutely brilliant box set. Im a huge Amsterdam fan since first visiting the city in 1972. Loved the interesting but sometimes slow stories. Arlette his rock as Van Der Valks wife. Obviously early episodes are typical 1970 low resolution. The last 3 discs however were better as resolution and colours were a little better. Plenty of classic and vintage vehicles to spot to. Plenty of well known actors turning up in many shows. British early series... Nostalgia at its best!!!

One of the best TV programmes ever produced for television. Its about a Dutch detective based in Amsterdam ,you get to see other parts of Holland too. Barry Foster plays Van Der Valk it is one of the best film series I have ever seen him in.But for most people of my generation ,it's the theme tune, that really makes it as well, for me personally it brought back loads of memories of my youth.

A little dated and very different to the new version starring Marc Warren but great fun and wonderful theme tune

I had hoped that the video and audio quality would be as good as shown in 1976 but I realise now there were no dvd box sets at that time so this is an inexpensive substitute.

It's vintage tv, and that is reflected in the storylines and the production values. I haven't got all the way through the series yet, but I've enjoyed what I've watched so far.

Started watching it yesterday and am enjoying it. Boxset watching at the moment with not being able to go out so should soon have it watched.

This is a great DVD if you like the old ones.
