The Art of How to Train Your Dragon

Looking into starting buying art books due to a great interest in animation and this was the first addition to (what i hope will become) my collection. One of my all time favourite movies, seeing the concepts to final designs, seeing how the plot came to be and reading about the production was an awesome insight into it. Super worth it!

I brought this book as after watching the film, I wanted to understand how they achieved certain effects. The book is well set out, the illustrations are beautiful and lets you see the artistic detail on the dragons. The book also shows you various sketches and how certain ideas were developed. A must for any fan of the film as well as those who like me like to know how things were done!

I was in awe when I first watched this film in the cinema.So when I finally got a chance to purchase this book, I couldn't wait to see all the concept art - for the dragons in particular :)The art work and the stories and other tid-bits about the process of making this wonderful film was fascinating.

Beautiful book with tones of illustrations from the first film, definitely recommend for any fan of the films.

It was a present for my granddaughter and she loves it. It arrived quickly and is a beautiful book.

It's a fantastic book. It makes a really great gift for 'How to Train your Dragon' fans. The illustrations/artwork are absolutley fantastic. It came in great condition and came withing afew days of ordering.

I am extremely pleased with this book. My only gripes with it is that it is a little thin and (me being really into character design) would have wished to have seen some more character designs and experimental sketches of faces and expressions. However, the art book is still of extremely high quality. I guess the reason why there aren't many sketches is because they less than a year to make the film. Great book, just wish there was more of it and more character art.

This book is a masterpiece! As I love handmade drawings, this book is exactly how a " the making of... " book should be. Some computer-animated pictures, but luckily a lot of handmade sketches, just like the old " the art of... " books before computer-animeted movies dominated the movie scene. 5 Stars!!
