I just adore the cover. There’s no way a child could pass this up on the bookshelf! Each double-page spread features a different child and pet. The poetry is fun, bouncy, and purposeful — the rhymes describe how the child shows love by caring for the pet. Gentle reminders such as “I never pull his tail” and “I don’t tap” (on the glass) help kids remember how to play responsibly with a pet. Both the text and the photos are very cute in this book. The students from TK through 3rd really like it.

We got this for our three years old who is obsessed with Parry Gripp. The pics of the animals and the cute text make this a perfect book for smaller children, especially animal lovers.
