i like it!
i already had this clutch for over a year now and all i can say is that it served my purpose best. this was installed onto my gokart that goes offroad every week and has no problem with any dirt, mud, sand, etc. but the reason why i took off one star is because when i first got the clutch it had a slight problem. because the clutch was new it would once in a while engage by itself and before you know it your chasing your gokart around your yard. this problem stopped pretty quickly so i dont think it's anything to worry about. i wish i can give this review a 4.5 star rating but i can only do a 4.0 star rating. other than the random engaging i think this clutch will serve for any purpose.

Not Recommended - Look at other options, the sprocket material is way too soft and will wear down quickly.
Unfortunately I should have done my research and known better. I ordered this clutch for my kids small, one seat go kart equipped with a 5hp Honda motor. I was hoping the "Extreme-Duty" clutch would keep my kids go-kart running for a good long time, but unfortunately I was wrong. Also to note, I had purchased 2 clutches (which after some research I came to find out were manufactured by Hilliard also) from Tractor Supply for this same Kart and they failed miserably as well - the issue? They all failed because the sprocket material is way too soft either through poor material choice, poor hardening or just plain poor quality and simply wears down to nubs or completely off. After I installed this on the motor and adjusted the chain properly, my kids rode the kart for a couple afternoons when the sprocket wore down enough to be sharp, causing the chain to split and destroy the aluminum sprocket on the axel and the aluminum chain guides. The chain also came back and hit my son in the back of the helmet (parents, please make sure your kids are wearing helmets!), fortunately the damage is all repairable and my son was just a bit shaken - BUT, learn from my mistakes, look elsewhere for better quality. Photos are attached to the review where you can see the erosion of the sprocket, the sharpening of the teeth and if you look past to the teeth against the clutch housing, the original size the sprocket was. Quite a difference, and remember, this is only after 8-10 hours maximum of wear on a very lightweight go kart carrying a 50lb child.

its okay
when brand new this clutch performs well, It has a nice smooth engagement and holds the power well. The only problem I have with this clutch is the quality of the sprocket. It wears down extremely fast not matter how perfect your chain is setup it will wear down. A new sprocket cost 25-30.00+shipping at that point you might as well just get a new clutch.

cant beat it
If you need a chain driven go kart or mini bike clutch then look no further. This clutch is worth every Penny. Never go with a "Max torq" even though they're a bit cheaper if you have more than 3 1/2 hp you want the Hillard, trust me I've had 3 max torque clutches they are bumpy and unsafe.

Got to take a ride !
My Blitz mini bike has not run since 2010 ,due to the fact that I was badly injured by it going over the top of me ,while using it to plant quail in the desert for a practice field trial for my hunting dogs . My arthritis is getting worse ,so we decided to start up the mini bike . Like all things Chinese the motor That was in it ,is no longer made and it would not run because I left fuel in the tank giving me a badly gummed up carb ,that I could not replace ,so we put a new model 212cc Predator engine in to replace it . The old motor when it did start would send the bike across the garage on idle due to a bad clutch ,so this is the unit that I used to replace it . The install was very straight forward and easy ,and after adjusting the chain tension pulley ,I put the bike on my safety roller stand and started it up .It stayed put at idle ,until I advanced the throttle and it enguaged like it should ,so cautiously I swung a leg over and the clutch brought the bike up to speed with my 250 + pounds on it and it never stalled the engine or smoked the clutch ,so today we put the chain covers back on the bike and it will go out into the desert ,some time next week with caution ,if I can just get the feel back for riding on 2 wheels ,if not it will be put up for sale !
