A great book for patients and caregivers
Most of us know the plight of Carnie Wilson's weight. Now she has finally written the book we all have been waiting for. Her book tells about her successful journey, warts and all. As a mental health counselor, I applaud her and Spotlight Health with presenting a most informative book which includes interviews with both a bariatric surgeon, nutritionist, endocrinologist and psychologist. Some people see gastric bypass as an easy way out to loose weight. Believe me, as a patient, it is not. She avidly describes this and how life will change for the patient and their loved ones. I greatly appreciate the important emphasis on the psychological aspects. They go hand in hand. Also, this book gives your support and caregivers an idea of what you will be going to go through and how they can better support you. I would like to see every doctor, patient, and candidate for surgery to read her book before either making the decision for surgery or as a guideline for post-op conditions that may come up. It is even indexed for ease of looking up something. A trendsetting book and a wonderful read .

Just received this book....
... and it's excellent. I think most people can relate to her story and I certainly can. As a public figure, she's amazingly brave to open up and I know it will help so many people. And I just want to add that I wish Wilson Phillips would record more music :-).

Juicy gossip awesome memoir!
This book has got the gossip. Causually blaming her love of 420 dank for her food binges cause she got the munchies. Iโm glad she never got addicted to hardcore drugs. Just pot. Lots of pot talk if your into that sorta thing! Yup she was popular in high school and kissed a lot of boys. Despite being a pro weight loss book does have a pic of Carnie flaunting her plus size curves in lingerie. Full glossy color photos. This book is very relevant I read this book in 2018 and itโs awesome! Quite enjoyable and entertaining! Would be cool if they made this book into the movie!

Disappointed
I hope Carnie sticks to music and leaves writing to others. Even as a forced my way to read it, half way through, I just wanted to scream BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Going on and on for instance on her first kiss -- learning to French kiss at 5 years old. Pages later when you thought she had moved on to a much pleasant seeming topic -- nope! We were still on that same very young, very fast learner she was portraying. Hashing & re-hashing about Wendy & Chynna was pointless. Yes, we understand they were thinner and prettier, we got that from the first 50 times you mentioned it. Bringing up the subject over-and-over again about being a pot smoker and how much she smoked, did little for keeping my attention. Was she trying to convince us that she had a "bad side"? Guess, maybe she needed to fill a few more pages of the book. I am disappointed in the writing of the book. It just wasn't up to high standards, even concerning it is a "star tale." Was I expecting too much? No, just a better written, better laid out story.

Great Book ! Detailed yet very personal.
I thought GUT FEELINGS by Carnie Wilson was an excellent book. Carnie talks about her childhood up to her adult life and the struggles she has had with morbid obesity. I liked getting to know her in the first half of the book, and the second half of the book went into her gastric bypass surgery and recovery. Carnie didn't hold back any of the "rough times" during her surgery and recovery and didn't "sugar-coat" the hard work people go through deciding to have gastric bypass surgery and the lifestyle changes that must occur afterwards. I have read alot of books on weight loss surgery, but Carnie's was the only book I found that put a personal story to the medical facts and procedures and that really made a difference. I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery or who has had surgery. I hope Carnie Wilson writes GUT FEELINGS II soon!

I"m not the only one with the same thoughts about one's self
I'm still reading the book, I read while I exercise on the bike. But I can relate to most of it so far. I am having the surgery sometime in April 2009. I can't wait to read the 2nd book "I'm still hungrey"which I am always. The cookbook is also interesting especially the namesof the recipes how true they are.

The real deal
This book helped me make the final decision to have gastric band surgery. A great comical read too.
