JuicedLink Riggy-Assist Dual-XLR Preamplifier with Phantom Power and Metering

This product changed the way we record audio. We use to record to the Zoom h4N instead of to our DSLR due to bad signal to noise on it. That meant that we were recording double system like when we shot film - which meant we were spending time syncing up all of our audio in post. We used great software called plural eyes, but that was still a big extra step. And there was still noise on the Zoom recordings due to the signal to noise ratio on it. The JuicedLink box eliminated the noise simply because as a preamp it, A. is very clean audio and B. sends a loud, clean signal to the camera that allows the camera levels to be very low and eliminates the camera's not so good S/N. It also cleans up the Zoom's S/N when we use it for wild sound. The JuicedLink is very easy to setup and use. We just replace the Zoom in our audio path - it is actually easier because we don't have to start both audio and video recorders on every take, it's got a great meter and clean level controls for both audio recording and headphone output. It does however seem to eat batteries, but so did the Zoom.

Love this thing, The hype is real. Only thing is make sure you have spare batteries on hand as I feel like the low battery indicator doesn't leave you a whole lot of time to find juice. Also really wish this model had a dc input... Careful when using with a tripod plate as you can accidentally flip a few of the underside switches and muck up your settings. Love the construction though and the Locking xlr inputs are a major plus.

Very good piece of equipment for the filming amateur. I originally bought the non - phantom unit and quickly learned that of your mic isn't self powered, you need this model.Very versatile and my only regret was not plunking down for the three input model.

I have not tried yet but I have seen it with my friends and it's working good
