These used to be so good, but they changed and the quality is lower. The noodles are clumped in a hard ball so some get cooked and some are still raw. Just not worth the cost anymore.

Dr. McDougall’s Vegan Ramen Chicken Soup is a solid, healthier alternative to traditional ramen. I appreciate that it uses organic noodles and is non-GMO — definitely a step up in quality. Nutritionally, it’s impressive: same 8g of protein and 2g of fiber as Maruchan, but with about half the sodium and carbs. That’s a big win in my book. The flavor is pretty good, and I love that I can sneak in some mushroom powder for my kids without them noticing. If you just microwave it, the noodles come out undercooked. I’ve found that covering the cup with foil and letting it sit for 10-15 minutes (instead of the 5 it says) works much better. My biggest gripe is the price — nearly $4 per serving for something that isn’t particularly filling. It’s more of a light snack than a full meal. Still, for a cleaner, plant-based ramen option, it’s a good one to have on hand.

It doesn’t matter if you eat meat or eat plant based. The taste of these and quality of the noodles are amazing. Many of these flavours are also available in stores so it’s easy to whip out to whole foods and grab one as well. Does not taste remotely like chemicals. The noodle quality is excellent, tender and delicate, but hearty. It’s easy to prepare with an electric tea kettle I just pour water over it and it’s a great easy meal in a short period of time.
