Joe Ramos is a conscientious Filipino gun writer (you might not know that after reading the book, as his English displays perfect professional native fluency), and this is an excellent book up to its deadline -- circa 1989. If this year were 1990, it would be worth five stars! As it is, it's dated, not only by missing all post-1990 developments (polymer frames, CZ-75B/85B with firing pin safety, Czechmate, CZ-USA, etc.)... this is about a firearm in continued active development, and this book freezes it in amber over a quarter century ago. It also can't cover political, operational or training developments subsequent to 1990. The CZ-75 is now the service pistol of several nations, where in 1989 it was probably just the best pistol in the world that wasn't a service pistol anywhere. Yet now it's an "old breed" representative of a double-action automatic in a world that's rejecting mechanical safeties in favor of trigger-cocking.Again, it's a great book full of decent detail, but it's dated. If you're interested in old pre-B CZs, their history and their place in the global gun culture.

Way over priced for the content

Good book that covers the history and development of one of the best handguns in the world. I have yet to read all of it.

Old or new (yourself and the gun) if you own a Ceská Zbrojovka you should buy this book. I have an old CZ-50 and there is all kinds of good info in here. Really detailed history and technical info as well as comparison of the different models. In fact, if Ramos writes a book about any gun you own I suggest you buy it.
