Awesome door!
We have used this doggie door for years! I have big dogs and small too. 5 to be exact! They run in and out this STURDY door very easily once they learn. Installation was easy if you have the proper tools and patience... I used the heavy duty plastic frame doors with vinyl flaps and I was constantly replacing the flaps because of how my dogs ran in and out all the time to play! Now I'm purchasing a small Gun Dog house door for my cat and I'm very excited! Thank you Gun Dog for an awesome heavy duty door for my fur babies!

Saint Bernard Fits through it
Ok so this door is metal and very stout. It is 1/4 metal. The clear door opens in one direction and then entire metal housing and clear door open the other direction. I installed my on the outside of the house and trimmed up the inside. It is 10 degrees at night here and now my laundry room stays warm. I have not even added any weather stripping. I work nights and the noise hasn’t bothered me at all.Pros-two screw installationVery largeVery sturdyLarge heavy duty springsSeals well without weatherstrippingFits my large saint bernardConsLoud if you have it in you house and not in a laundry roomOverall save yourself some money buying this instead of the plastic dog doors that fall apart.

It is very loud when it bangs shut!
I do not usual write reviews on products but this dog door is the worst ever. I bought this door because we got a puppy and he has eaten 3 plastic dog door flaps. We also have cats that use the door so I ordered the easy door and looking at the picture it looks like it has a magnet on the bottom to seal the door shut. When it arrived there is no magnet and it has a gap all the way around the flap. This is going into a door in our bedroom so this was not going to work at all. I got in contact with Lance at Gun Dog House Door and switched it out for the heavy duty door; he said a 3 pound Chihuahua can open this door. The comments I was reading said it was really heavy and very loud when it closed. BELIEVE THE COMMENTS. It scares the puppy so bad he will not even come into the bedroom. There is no way we can sleep at night and have the dogs use the door. VERY LOUD! It also says it is weather tight do not believe this either! We are very disappointed in this product! If you are going to use it for a kennel or dog house it would work but if you are going to use it in your house SAVE YOUR MONEY. Last thing when they refunded my money they held out 19.20 for a restocking fee which was not mentioned at all when I was talking to Lance about exchanging doors. If I had to do over again I would not purchase this product!

Puppy Proof
I used to buy the pet doors locally and all they carried were the flexible plastic ones. These would work fine, but all of them cracked and fell apart when we'd get our annual northern states week in January where the temperature drops below -30F. Like putting a rubber band in liquid nitrogen. The last straw was adopting a new puppy who managed to destroy 2 more doors with chewing. This door is very rugged and chew-proof. Easy to install. We've yet to go through a winter with it, but metal and plexiglass should easily survive the cold. It is loud, as I've seen in other reviews, but we have a kennel attached to the barn, so noise is not an issue. If we did have a kennel attached to the house, my guess is some foam insulation would quiet it down just fine.So far, so good.....

Works great. Heavy Duty as advertised
Works great. Heavy Duty as advertised. Easy to install. It is loud when it slams shut but that's trade off when going heavy duty. This is made for people like us who have two high energy medium size dogs that chew up the typical plastic doors. Keeps the cold out during the winter. It would be nice if the door included a parts list for the inserts and add on items in the box. Those are all available to look at on the manufacturer's website.

Your dog won't destroy it, but...
I bought this door because my big ol' boxer is a sis and he will not play outside. I have a door that had previously been fitted with a plastic pet door, like those available in pet stores. Mr. Wimp chewed and punched until he totally destroyed it. So began my search for an indestructable door for when I need him to be outside.Other reviewers complain about the noise this door makes, and they are correct: it is loud. It also has some pretty stout springs that may be difficult to navigate if your dog is slow, old, timid, or puny. My dog was frightened out of his wits the first couple of times I coaxed him through and is still pretty careful with it on day two.My beef with this door is that I could not tell by the pictures what I was actually getting. The seller was very friendly on the phone, but they did not know what it looked like either, as they don't stock the door so they never get to see it. That deficiency is what prompted me to write a review. What follows is what I wish I had known up front.See the shiny aluminum framework in the seller's picture? (The clear area in the middle is a heavy plexiglass panel that swings the other way.)When you buy this door, you are ONLY getting a flap to screw on over the hole you cut in your door or wall or whatever. That's it. No trim of any kind for the hole. This is fine if you are using it for a gun dog kennel, but on the house where looks matter, plan to spend extra time and money trimming out your opening. The instructions that accompanied this were by no means exhaustive, so don't buy this if you aren't pretty sure you can handle what you're getting yourself into. This door will NOT be weatherproof. There is a gap above the plexiglass flap that is substantial enough to let in quite a draft and maybe water, depending on where you put the door. I put mine on an exterior mudroom door protected by a covered patio, so it doesn't matter for me, but other buyers might want to know that! The door itself is very heavily constructed, but only 2 little wood screws actually attach the flap to your door. I drilled holes all the way through the door and used nuts and bolts to make the attachment instead. (You will have to make allowances for counter sinking the heads if you buy the closing panel.)All in all, this door is super sturdy and it will serve the purpose for which I purchased it for years to come. If you take the time to dress it up when you install it, it won't look too bad, either. Not attractive, just not too bad.
