Corsair HX1200i
ere is my brand new computer in September 2025: It works perfectly! Make sure you update the BIOS with USB flashdrive first, otherwise you might get a black screen with the 5090. This is really important. Case : Corsair 5000D Cooler : Cooler Master Atmos 360 PSU : Corsair HX1200i CPU : AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3D Memory : Corsair Vengeance DDR5 2x48 6000mhz CL30 SSD : 9100 Pro (My mistake I wasn't aware of the included heatsink in the x870e-e) go for regular 9100 instead. One of the Highest Quality 1,200 Watt Power Supplies Available
This review is for CORSAIR HX1200i (2025) Fully Modular Ultra-Low Noise ATX Power Supply with 12V-2x6 Cable – ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 Compliant. I wasn't really looking for a new PSU, as I was super happy with my Corsair AX1200i. But I had it for almost 15 years, and I decided that since I was going to be moving to an RTX 5000 Series GPU that I was going to upgrade to a new PSU. My first thought was to get a newer version of my Corsair AX1200i, but unfortunately the only AX unit available was 1,600 watts. Anything over 1,200 watts should only be connected to a 20 Amp outlet, and I only have a 15 Amp outlet. So, I wanted to stay at 1,200 watts. I did heavy research on what were the highest quality 1,200 Watt PSU's. This lead me to a choice between three best: Corsair HX1200i (2025), Enermax PlatiGemini 1200W, and Super Flower Leadex VII XP PRO 1200W. Each unit had small variances between where they excelled, but all three were outstanding options. Overall, I decided to go with this Corsair HX1200i (2025). I liked the larger chassis for heat dissipation, the cables, and the iCUE link for PSU information. So far, I am very happy with the PSU. It is completely silent, has great output, nice cables (for the most part), and I like the iCUE link. I like the 12V-2x6 cable for RTX 4000/5000 GPU which supplies up to 600W, so it will work with an RTX 5090 without the need for adapter cables. In the iCUE software you can select to have this PSU operate as a single-rail or multi-rail PSU. I went with single-rail so that I don't have to bother with power balancing the rail connections. Also, the iCUE software is really nice. There are some things that I miss from my AX1200i though. First, there were more cables with the AX1200i, and the SATA cables had a better layout. The communication port setup was better. I could hide the adapter that had the activity light, and the activity light was not obnoxiously bright. The AX1200i also had a self-test button and nicer looking case. It was also 100% digital. There is talk of a new AX model coming down the road, but it sounds like it is a year or more away. There is something that I can't stand on this Corsair HX1200i though. The activity light is obnoxiously bright. To make it even more annoying, it is dome shaped. So, I can't just easily put a sticker over it. They layout of the SATA connectors could have also been better. On a Side Note: After doing research about PSU efficiency, it turns out that getting a PSU that is about double of what your system uses is roughly the best for efficiency, in addition to 80 Plus rating. Inefficiency generates heat. The more inefficient the PSU, the more heat it generates. If you are in a closed room, you can actually notice the heat difference in a room with a higher efficient PSU vs a lower one. Another Quality Product from Corsair!
Sort of like "Mopar or no car". It's "Corsair or don't even dare". I have been using corsair PSU's since the beginning of THEIR career and time after time I am always satisfied. This product is no different. It works great, reliably, and has phenomenal value for what you pay. I highly recommend this for anyone who want's a clean and simple solution to their build as well, since it's fully modular there are no left over or unused cables. Only what you need to get your machine working. I will say I had some trouble fitting all the cables within my case since my 5090 is a power hungry nightmare. This required more than the usual PCI power cables be installed and since my case design pushed the cables up against a slot for a HDD, I had to remove that. This is absolutely no dig on this product though. I would buy and do it all again with this PSU.

Needed this for a 5090
Needed this PSU for the RTX 5090. It hasn't given me any problems since I bought it, and it's pretty silent. it comes with an included 12VHPWR cable, which I am using on my GPU. So far power delivery hasn't been an issue at all and all the cables the PSU comes with is of premium quality. All of them are braided and are pretty flexible. Recommended for any high end build.
