Great tent for a family
Overall I'm very happy with this tent. I did a couple hours of research looking for the perfect product for my wife, my six-month old, and me, and from what reviews I read there were no surprises with the quality and performance of this tent (the one surprise was we initially got the wrong tent, but Amazon resolved the issue in a day). We used this tent for three nights over Independence Day weekend in Asheville and did not experience any problems. The tent stayed cool and dry, even though it rained every day, even poured one night. Like novices, we left the windows open the first day and it rained, but the rain fly kept everything dry inside. If you're looking for a large car-camping tent, this one is definitely the best for the money. Pros: -multiple large windows that can be rolled down. The mesh isn't quite as fine as the Eureka brand mesh, but it still kept out all the bugs. We live in Florida, so large windows are essential to get a breeze. -bathtub floor. It's sturdy, but we still got a tarp. -mesh ceiling. We didn't have the chance because of the weather, but it would be great to take the rain fly off and sleep under the stars -closet. I thought this was kind of superfluous at first--who needs a closet while camping?--but after the weekend I realize it's amazing to have. It really de-clutters the space. -easy to put together and take down. My wife and I put it together in 10 minutes and packed it up in 15 minutes at the camp site. However, as many reviews stated, it is not easy the first time. The first time I put it up in my backyard by myself it took over an hour--I needed to look up a video on YouTube to figure it out. Admittedly I'm not the best at those sorts of things, but I would still op-check it at home. -it's dry. Coleman's weatherproofing isn't bad, but I still sealed the seams and waterproofed the fly. -a zippered place to put out your electrical cords -size. We fit a queen air mattress and a bassinet, and had plenty of room to spare. Cons: -the door. It has great potential, but isn't quite done right. Other reviews explain it accurately. -putting the closet together. Although the closet is great, I found it harder to put together than the door. If you're looking for a large family tent, I found this one to be perfect for our needs.

Two bedroom rambler with views.
Two bedroom rambler with views and walk-in closet - bathroom not included. First, I did not receive this for free or at a discount. I paid full price, and loved it so much I felt compelled to write a review. This is a great tent. We are a family of four, and we all love camping. We have a queen mattress and two smaller kid mattresses. They all fit in here easily. Space is definitely not an issue, as we also had a 3x3 kennel for our dog in here with us. Setup: Set up is actually really simple for a big tent. The first time I set it up was in the dark with my kids holding flashlights for me, which as much as they tried, the trees and ground was always more appealing to them than where I needed the light. I would say that the first time took me around 20 - 25 minutes, and that is in the dark. The second, and subsequent times have gone much faster, and with more than one person it would definitely be under ten minutes. Alas, I am usually setting it up by myself, so it takes around 15 minutes. Still not bad, as I have had smaller tents that took longer than that! There is definitely an order of operations. 1) Stake the tent down, and then begin with the center poles. 2) When doing the corner poles, remove the stake for that corner so you have some flexibility. 3) Everything else is pretty easy. Pros: The door - awesome, except there are three zippers (one for the D shape, one for the window, and one to open the door) and they have the same color rope on it, so the window and the D was unzipped a few times resulting utter chaos, no not really, resulting in having to zip it back up. What did you think would happen? The closet - we did not set it up for use with the shelves, because they are a great idea, but executed poorly. They sag too much. But we did use it for our clothes bags and camping bin. It is decent sized, and definitely makes the tent more usable for us. Windows - They do not zip up along the top of the window, so while they are great for privacy, and keeping you dry, it still allows air-flow through the tent. Do not read that as the house. err - tent, comes with air conditioning, because it still gets hot on a warm (not hot, but warm) day. Amazingly enough, it cools right down at night. One of the most frustrating things about tents is that they do not take themselves down. I am here to tell you that this tent is no different. You still have to take it down. However, you have to try really hard to not get everything to fit back in the bag, which is most frustrating to me. As a mobile home, it does not come with roadside assistance, however, there are videos out there that show you how to set it up. I suggest watching them before leaving home for the first time. Cons: If you have been paying any attention, you should know that I love the tent. But here you are looking for something to be wrong with it. Okay, I will satisfy your pessimistic side. - The zippers at the door are too similar, resulting in repeated failed attempts at unzipping. SOLUTION- I am going to change the colors on mine so we can tell the zippers apart. - The poles fit almost too good, so getting them into the proper places is a tight fit, resulting in occasional seam stretching, albeit minor. I would rather it be tight though, am I right? - It did not transform into a robot. Not that I was expecting it to, but you wanted some negativity, and it definitely did NOT do this. Tell me that wouldn't have been cool... All joking aside, it is a great tent and I really couldn't be happier. I will say that since I purchased the price has increased, and I am not sure if I would pay over $200 without comparing other options in that price range first. I was trying to stay under $200.

Good size, easy setup
I waited to review this until I've used it several times. The space is awesome, having used 2-4 person dome tents for the last 20+ years. Love that I can stand up inside comfortably (I'm 6 foot). Fits a queen air mattress, with space on both sides, and an entire other 'room'. We have a small chair and a collapsible plastic table inside to make a quite nice living space. Air movement is OK and equivalent to other tents. Haven't seen any bad weather yet, but used a can of scotchguard to waterproof it. Dew drops right off, but for longevity, I highly recommend unpacking it after a trip to dry it fully and put away neatly -- your future self with thank you! The closet is an interesting feature. We don't hang up much (awkward to fit normal hangers), but pushing bags (holds two small suitcases easily) into this area makes even more floor space inside. The little shelf thing for the closet is more useful than I expected as well. Friends laugh at the closet, but it's a nice-to-have with limited cost in terms of layout or setup complexity. Setup the first time wasn't hard, and the door is the trickiest part. Most recently I set it up alone at dusk, and it went up quickly enough without any issues. Having two people to set up is nicer, but certainly not a requirement. The door can be tricky to set up and even use. We just use the velcro closing when in and out often, zipping up fully when we're away or in for the night. The long zipper throw and two sliders make it annoying to find where to unzip when it's partially or fully closed. Thinking about putting colorful zip ties to make things more visible, but this is really nit-picking. It's a great tent.

Use My Instructions, NOT the Ones Provided!
I haven't used this tent myself yet, I have set it up at my house and lent it to friends who we went camping with. My initial impressions, without having slept in it, only having set it up, inspected it, and broken it down a couple of times, are as follows: Cons: - Instructions are more confusing than helpful. If you've ever set up a tent before, just ignore them and do what you think makes sense. You'll get it done faster than trying to follow the instructions. I have also transcribed the instructions that I gave to my friends below (the numbers didn't copy/paste in, but they should be easy enough to read). My friends used the instructions I provided and were able to set it up without my help. When I set it up on my own, it took 45 minutes +, and I am no stranger to setting up tents of many kinds. To be fair, I was setting it up by myself in my living room, scrambling over my coffee table and hearth and standing on my couch (it was thunder storming outside), so it wasn't ideal conditions. But the instructions certainly didn't help! - The "real" door idea is neat, but I find it a little floppy in execution. It doesn't align very well, meaning there's a small one-to-two-inch gap when the door is not zipped, just velcroed, which I think would be mitigated by another velcro attachment point. - The material seems a little flimsy, more see-through than I am used to. But my other Coleman tent is a 6-person Instant Tent, and it has quite thick, black fabric. - As reported by my friends, though the material seems thin, it's not any more breathable than a normal tent. If it's warm out, you will want the windows unzipped for any time except when you are changing or otherwise want privacy. This was with the rainfly on; I want to test and see how it is with the rainfly off. Pros: - The closet idea is neat. Our friends loved chunking stuff into it rather than feeling like it needed to be tidily kept in a pile somewhere. - The "door", while not great in execution, is still nice: no more zip-zip-zip all day! - The divider is easy to set up and take down, and it really does feel spacious on each side. For a couple, you can use one side as your bedroom and the other side as your living room. - I find the colors very attractive. The tent poles themselves are light green, which is nice and different from my other tents. This tent brightens up your campsite. Coleman Tenaya Lake Tent Assembly Instructions Bag contents: Tent 1 turquoise bag of roof poles attached to a black roof connector (these should be attached to tent with a green tie—do not untie from tent!) 1 large gray bag of ground poles + closet poles + door poles 1 small gray bag of tent stakes 1 silver/light gray rainfly 1 turquoise wall divider 1 dark gray doormat (for outside of tent) 1 black mesh shelf for closet Instructions: Prepare tent for setup. Lay down ground tarp (not included in tent bag, purchased separately). Spread out tent over tarp, noting where the door will open. (The door is on the opposite side of the round Coleman logo.) Move the tent around to the desired position on your campsite. Stake the tent down taut using the red loops on the 4 corners. (You can stake down the tent at all points at this stage if you prefer, just don’t stake down the closet.) Assemble the roof of the tent. Locate the turquoise bag of roof poles attached to the tent and take the poles out. The roof poles are all attached to the black roof pole connector. Note the color coding tape on the poles (some poles have no tape). Locate the 6 black black elbow joints on the tent. They will have color coding tape corresponding to that on the roof poles. Insert the roof poles into the elbow joints per the color coding (red with red, no tape with no tape, etc.). You may have to untie the connector to ease this process. Clip the black clips onto the roof poles. The roof is now complete. Add the ground poles. Locate the large gray bag and take out the large-diameter poles. Starting with the red-taped poles (the center poles), extend each pole and insert them in the elbow joints per the color coding. The end with tape goes into the elbow joint; the “plain” end goes into the black plastic pole fasteners on the ground. Clip the black clips onto the ground poles. The main portion of the tent is now assembled. Complete the door assembly. Locate the small-diameter poles with black rubber tips (they are labeled with black Sharpie). Insert the short, vertical door pole in the black pole fasteners. It will be tight. Insert the long door pole in the black pole fastener at the top, then feed it through the fabric to the bottom of the door to secure it in the bottom pole fastener. Unzip the white zipper at the bottom of the door to make this easier, and re-zip when complete. Assemble the closet. Locate the remaining tent poles: there are 2 angled poles and 1 short pole (none are extendable). Locate the closet. It has a small green rainfly attached to it. Beneath is the actual structure of the closet. Feed the short pole through the top of the closet structure. Attach the 2 angled poles to the short pole. Locate the silver pins at the bottom of the tent and insert the angled poles into the pins. Stake the black loops down so that the closet is taut. Put on the rainfly (if desired). Locate the rainfly. Attach the velcro loops and hooks to the elbow connectors on one side of the tent. Pull the rainfly over the rest of the tent and secure the velcro loops and hooks on each corner. Tie down the guylines (white cords) with stakes, if desired.

GLAMPING FOR SURE.
My husband and I are absolutely obsessed with this tent! It is huge! Perfect for us and our 2 dogs. Easy to set up, my husband did it on his own. We had a queen air mattress inside and definitely could have set up 1 or 2 more comfortably. You would think that a closet for camping is pointless but it was actually nice to be able to store things away such as the tent and air mattress bags. Makes things feel less cluttered. We only camped once so far for a weekend but I am now excited to go on longer trips because of how relaxed I feel in this big tent. Also, we got bad storms both nights and everything was fine. No leaking or anything. The view without the rain cover on is amazing. My husbands favorite thing about the tent was how many windows you have. For people who are claustrophobic like myself, this is your dream tent. The hinged door is nice too so you're not constantly having to zip the door open and shut every time you need to go inside. Basically, I could go on and on about how amazing this tent is. I honestly did not find one flaw. So far. (this review is coming from someone whos not big on camping, loves nice cool hotel rooms, showers, ect.) Just a little tip, this tent is originally (and worth) $200 but I watched the price for a few weeks before I actually purchased it. The price changed from $200-150ish many times and I ended up snagging it at the lowest price which was $129! So just keep that in mind. A few hours after I bought the tent it was back up to $198. I say as long as you don't pay more than $200 its WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Great for a family
After having a large Coleman tent for years, I was in the market for a new one. I wasn’t necessarily set on getting another Coleman, but after doing some research, I found that this brand had great reviews for water resistance, so I decided to go with it. One feature I love is the swinging door—it’s a must-have for me! It makes getting in and out so much easier. The door doesn’t need to be zipped to stay closed; it just rests shut. There are Velcro strips along the edge of the door, but they don’t line up perfectly, so you have to pull on it to get them to stick. I plan to add some extra adhesive Velcro to fix this issue. The tent height is great—my 5'10" husband can easily stand up inside. We have a family of four and a dog, and there was more than enough space for all of us and our things, with room to spare. The closet is a nice touch, but you’ll need to bring your own hangers. While we don’t use the hanging bar much, it’s useful to have the extra floor space for our bags. We can fit two bags comfortably in that area. The first time we used the tent, we had a windy weekend. The poles had some trouble staying staked down in the wind, and we had to adjust them a couple of times. The wind also stretched the seams quite a bit, which led me to buy some tent repair tape to reseal one of the seams. As a precaution, we sprayed the tent with waterproofing spray, and when it did rain, we had no issues with water seeping in. The windows provide nice airflow, and the entire roof is mesh, which helps with ventilation. It does get hot during the day when the sun’s out, but honestly, I’ve never had a tent that didn’t. I’m happy with my purchase and can see my family using this tent until the kids move out and it becomes too big for us. It was simple to set up (three of us did it the first time, but two can handle it just as well). The directions were mostly clear, and the poles and holes were color-coded, making it easy to figure out where everything goes. In the past, I’ve had tents that didn’t need tie-downs to stay up, even on calm days. However, this tent does require the tie-downs to stay upright, so you definitely need to use the rainfly. All in all, it’s a great tent, and I’m looking forward to many more camping trips with it! Overall, this tent is spacious, functional, and perfect for family camping trips. I’m really happy with this purchase!

Great tent, especially for the price
I bought this in fall and just set it up, inside for practice. We take it out next week. Here are my thoughts so far Pros: humongous, I called it "the camper" on accident twice, lol. Room for a small picnic table on one half without having to remove all your beds. Tall inside with nearly verticle sides. Easy to set up and put away, I did it with my 5yo no problem (maybe not in 9 mins, but still). Pretty color. Closet is a neat idea,it wasn't functional without being able to stake it, so I'm excited to see if it's handy when we take it out. Good airflow, the windows and roof are huge screens, lots of ventilation. Cons: the door, just a terrible design. Round door 😒 hard to zip/unzip, catches on the fly no stake area at the bottom to hold it taught. No tie back to hold it open. There are 2 tiny pockets inside,a tent this size needs lights and accessories but here is no where, not one hook, to tie stuff to, also,no flaps to use binder clips. Super annoying ,must find a solution for this. I'm slightly. Concerned with how tight the poles pull on the seams in the corners. I can see light thru them,I'm probably going to duct tape this immediately, not super happy about having to tape a brand new tent. I hope we love it at the campgrounds. For the price to value ratio om going with 4 stars. Update: used for 6 days in Florida recently. Love hate relationship with that door design. It was nice that it closed with the kids going in and out, but it doesn't close tightly enough on its own to keep out the mosquitos, luckily it's still early and they aren't too bad yet. We had rain 4 or the 6 days and every night, I didn't treat the tent with anything ans NO LEAKS! I was pleasantly surprised by this considering some of the concerns mentioned above. The closet was so much more useful than I thought it would be too. Instead of the room divider, I hung paracord thru those loops and made my own place to hang items. This tent has great airflow. I set this up and broke it down by myself without issue and in approx 10 min. I'm upgrading my review to 5 stars.

STAY AWAY! Untrustworthy company and poor quality product!
SHAME ON ME!! I relied upon the reputation the Coleman brand established during the years I was growing up. Coleman products were the go-to for all campers and outdoor needs. THE QUALITY of the BRAND HAS DECLINED! Back in 2017, I purchased the Coleman 8-Person INSTANT tent for around $400. The concept is fabulous. We loved that tent. During our first Scout camping trip, we noticed there was an unusual twist with one of the main support poles. We ignored it, because we were thinking, it must be okay because IT IS COLEMAN. The following year we went on the annual Scout camp trip and the twist seemed weak. The third year, the metal actually cracked right where they crimp the pole to slide inside of another piece. The crimp is right at a bend which causes weakness. The next year, Covid hit so we were not able to camp. We decided to order a replacement part/support pole so the crack would not break while setting up for the 2021 annual Scout camp. We contacted Coleman and they do not offer this support pole because it was discontinued nor a remedy for this issue. We then checked every possible entity, third party, ebay, amazon and service center that we could find online and they all said, good luck because lots of Coleman parts are discontinued with no inventory anywhere. So, we used our $400 tent 3xs and at some point during this three year period, parts were discontinued and unavailable. What happened to the Coleman brand quality of longevity, durability and remedies? Later in 2021, we purchased another Coleman tent, a little less expensive at approximately $250, but decided to go with the style of poles that are more common so that replacement, if needed, would be available and purchased the Tenaya Lake Fast Pitch 8 person tent. Oddly, Coleman uses the same product video for the Instant Tent as they do the Tenaya Lake Fast Pitch which shows how they put them through a vigorous windstorm and a downpour only to find they are still standing and completely dry. However, they don't do the review showing the actual Tenaya Tent. The website further states they have Weathertec Features: If it rains, the WeatherTec™ system with its patented welded floors and inverted seams will help them stay dry. WeatherTec™ system – patented welded floors and inverted seams help keep water out PROTECTED SEAMS Inverted seams increase weather resistance by hiding needle holes inside the tent. WATERPROOF FLOORS Welding-inspired technology strengthens the tent floor and eliminates needles holes. I urge you to watch the attached video. The floors had standing water, puddles, a stream as it was raining. The bedding was soaked and resulted in a horrible experience. To make matters worse, it is the one and only time the tent was used and Coleman will not stand behind their product and take back their tent and return our money. This was purchased through Amazon and *USA* Deals, third party seller, states this item is not eligible for a return. Needless to say, when a product fails, it says more about the integrity of a BRAND and/or Company on how they resolve the matter. The product failure doesn't keep customers from returning because it occasionally happens. What matters most, is when a customer trusts a brand/company and spends the money on what the product is supposed to do and when it doesn't, the company does NOT resolve the issue for the customer. Abandoning your customer when your product fails results in the customer never returning because you don't stand behind your products. Lesson learned!!! I will be sure to post this video everywhere and anywhere I can to keep others from believing the Coleman Brand has the same quality and integrity they had decades ago. Should they step up and do the right thing, I will update this post. Lisa G. St. Louis, MO
