This was great. I had some older CD's that I want ...
It totally did as advertised. This was great. I had some older CD's that I want to burn to get into my music library and this thing worked like a charm. Just plugged it in and it was ready to go. It only took a few minutes to burn the CD. It's awesome. Totally recommend this if you are just using it as a vehicle to get your CD's into a digital format. It made a little bit of noise when it was spinning the disc around but it worked great.

Good, standard CD/DVD reader
I bought this as my new iMac no longer has an integral CD/DVD reader. It works well, and I have had no problems with it. I did insert a BluRay disc by accident, and it would not eject as it normally does, and it does not have a mechanical eject button. Found a blog on the Internet that discussed this, and I was then easily able to eject it. Profile is small and flat.

NOT NEW, GUTS ARE REFURBISHED......
My fiance is handy with technology and he opened up the reader (I know it says on the listing not to, but I figured I already lost the money why not try and make it work). He found that the internal guts are originally from 2011, and looks like a re-used system (which is fine, why waste a perfectly fine working item, I am all about recycling) with that said, you should list that they are NOT brand new... also something was loose inside the guts, my fiance had to unscrew the top metal piece to remove it... even after this it still did not work...The only way the reader works is outside of the plastic container because when it is in the cover, the wires in the back are squished which messes with the connection....which prevents the lens from reading the disk (which is why it kept popping the disk out). We are going to try and fix the plastic cover to protect the reader but allow it to work...Saying brand new is a lie, it should say refurbished.NOT WORTH THE BUY... I should have just paid for a "real" one from Apple.

Works well
Works well - I've only used it a few times so far, but it seems to be great. I really like the way it smoothly "sucks" the disc (DVD or CDRom) into it, and then gently "spits" it out when you tell it to Eject. In my mind, having fewer moving parts (like a tray that slides in and out) means less opportunity for it to break or malfunction. Excellent price, too!

Not Apple Superdrive
This is a great drive. It hasn't failed me yet or eaten any CDs or DVDs, so I'm happy, noting the reviews. It works fine. However, if you are thinking that this is an Apple superdrive, then you are mistaken. When I got this, I was surprised and almost returned it, because I honestly thought by the way that it was said in other comments and reviews that this was the Apple Superdrive.I decided to test it, because I was too lazy to go to the UPS office, and it worked fine. I was a little hesitant at first, but I was pleasantly surprised. But just don't buy this because you think it is a discounted Apple Superdrive.I think that the silver looking cover is plastic. The lip beneath where you insert the CD snaps up if you pick it up wrong, but it does not affect the functionality. All things considered, this is a great drive, but with further clarity (and further adhesive for the snapping lip) this is a 5 star product.

great product, if you have no drive, this is the one you want.
arrived quickly as indicated. easy plug and play. works before i even know what's happening. i'm not very computer savey, but this doesn't require much knowledge of technology. we have already used it in many different ways from ripping our cds to digital library and using it to watch dvds. great product.

Worked but no eject button near cord.
It works and was shipped and received on time. One of the problems is that in the short intro or specs page it said there was an eject button near the USB cord...and there really isn't one. It is simple and normal Mac eject solution when the disc shows up in the finder column. I'm using a new 21" iMac with 10.11 installed. Works so far - only used it once. Hope it lasts.

Small Price...Big Performer
I bought this for my Macbook Pro Retina and so far I am really impressed. I run a virtual Win7 PC on my Mac and I am able to share this drive with my Windows system as well to burn CD/DVD's and make ISO's. Great so far can't believe the Mac one sells for more than twice the price....
