One easy treatment and lice free!! A must have!!
Due to looser reporting protocols in school, we were not notified there was a lice outbreak at my 5YOs daughter’s school. I discovered lice and nits in her hair on a Saturday afternoon and panicked. This was my first ever experience with these nasty critters.I tearfully headed to my local drug store and bought nearly every product on the shelf. Amongst them, The Rid kit; later discovered to only be effective in killing live lice. The nit comb it came with had teeth that were too broadly spaced to get out the pinhead sized nits. I really panicked when I realized that without getting each and every nit, we’d be battling this forever. Her brown/auburn hair is down to her bum, and I spent the entire Saturday and most of the night picking nits with my fingers, a lighted magnifying glass and rat tail comb. There was no fathomable way I could see getting them all in her thick hair. I researched local lice salons and found that this device is similar to what the Lice Clinics use. In speaking with other parents I was told that some paid $300+ for a one time removal at our nearest “lice salon”, so I figured this was a wise investment. It arrived the next evening (Sunday). I had already watched the YouTube tutorial video 3 times so I felt confident in my ability to properly use it. My daughter and I were so excited, even tracked the courier on her journey via Amazon tracking to our house with the “magic lice device”. We got to work on her hair immediately. I was able to treat her entire scalp adequately (returning, as recommended, to the “hot spots” for lice and the areas the nits seemed to be highly concentrated. I just kept moving from section to section until the unit automatically shut off, which I would say was about 1 hr.I had originally thought I had probably missed 4-5 nits after my previous day’s tedious hand-work with my fingers and the RID product. Once I sectioned the heat treated hair and began applying the provided gel, I saw the dozens of dehydrated (now white and no longer clear/brownish) nits. No way could I have hand-picked them all out!! I now know it’s not that kids get “reinfested”, it’s actually more likely that not all the nits were not removed in the first place. The hair product (used on step 2) smelled so nice (my daughter even commented on it!). The comb included was way better quality than the RID brand, and was able to effectively remove the dehydrated nits. It shampooed out nicely. We used the “Boo!” shampoo followed up with the John Paul Mitchell Tea tree and eucalyptus scented conditioner and then same brand leave-in. Because it was late and we were exhausted from the emotional and taxing weekend (ie laundry, vacuuming, nit picking and quarantine process) she went straight to bed. She woke the next morning with bouncy soft non-itchy and MOST importantly nit and lice free hair!! Today is day 9 post treatment and she is still totally lice and nit free. I check her daily (sometimes more often). I purchased 4 treatments with the kit, in case she gets a future case or one of my other 2 kids. This came in handy as her little friend’s mom contacted us to say she also found nits in her daughter’s hair. Armed with my device, the extra attachments, magnifying glass and gloves, I went to help, treating the daughter and mother (just in case, since anyone who has dealt with this knows about the psychological itch!!). I would without a doubt recommend this device. If you take the time to do the research (watch the YouTube video) it works, 100%!!! Mine arrived missing the 4th attachment. I contacted the company and they apologized and immediately sent out a replacement attachment, which arrived 2 days later. Such a great company and product! And to now have the peace of mind knowing she’s clear now and will be if it happens again? TOTALLY worth the price! We now also always use a lice repellent shampoo and conditioner. The leave-in spray when doing her hair in the morning is also a MUST to keep the lice away (I bought the “boo” but we also as a family use “head hunters”, brand- both seem to work great!), as well as buns and braids only for her lovely long tresses. I feel like an expert after my experience and research. I told the teacher I could probably have a minor in liceology for sure!! I’d recommend this device, a nice lit magnifying glass (10-16x magnification), a rat tail comb for sectioning and searching through the hair daily and other products I’ve mentioned to maintain a clear head (figuratively and physically!!). Can’t say enough great things about this!! Thank you lice clinics!!!

Stops functioning due to chip sensors
I'm not happy that there are sensors on the heads that make the device quit functioning after a certain time. I was unable to even finish one child's treatment with one plastuc head before it made it turn off. It does seem to work pretty well but for $150 I believe a consumer should be able to control what they buy.

OneCure Will End the Nightmare!
My first grader recently acquired a case of head lice. This was my very first exposure to this nightmare and it was worse than I could have imagined. By the time we realized that she had it, it was too late for both myself and her (mortified!!) teenaged sister. Ugh. I tried not to panic. We treated with an over the counter product that promised results. I combed for nits every night for a week. It looked like it might have worked, but there were more nits every day. I wanted to shave our heads. We tried home remedies, we tried other products. I was willing to pay hundreds for professional removal, but there are no options anywhere near where I live. I researched Lice Clinics of America and considered travelling literally hundreds of miles to the nearest one. And then . . . I stumbled onto this “at home” version of the treatment and purchased right away. The cost seemed more than reasonable to me if it actually worked. . . I had already spent at least this much in the week prior trying to use conventional methods and honestly would pay ten times this amount because.... It worked for us!!The product packaging itself was surprisingly pleasing, nice to look at and the box even had a silky smooth feel. The device itself was maybe a little heavier than my regular hair dryer, but the two handles make it easy to use for the amount of time necessary because you can easily switch hands or the position of the hands. The handle on top should be required on all hair dryers! Also, the green parts of the handle are a silky soft, super smooth covering or coating of some sort that actually feels really pleasant to touch and hold. The tips are bigger than I imagined, but not as intimidating to attach and remove as they initially seemed. If I could figure it out, anyone can. The actual treatment was also easier than I imagined. Throw a movie on or give them an iPad and they’ll sit still for the entire treatment. Plus, the 35 or so minutes of using the actual device is nothing compared to night after night of wet combing for nit extraction! Follow the included instructions for the correct “ pattern” for the placement and movement of the device across and up and down the head. The machine will do the rest, indicating by light when it’s time to move on.The included gel and applicator/comb was another step that proved simple to complete. The reusable applicator/comb combo was novel to me and I loved the design. I felt like compared to other products, this delivery method gave me more peace of mind that I was actually getting the product delivered to the necessary areas of the scalp and hair. Again, this step doesn’t take long and my daughter was fine with it. There were no harsh chemical smells that made her gag either, which always helps improve ease of application!I followed all the included instructions and it’s been a couple of days and I haven’t seen any new nits or live bugs on either of our heads, so I’m definitely optimistic. We’ll keep checking every couple of days, and I will update this review if something new develops, but as of right now, I would 100% recommend that EVERYONE just buy this product to have in your home just in case you’re one of the unlucky ones who get to experience this horrible nightmare first hand. I had to wait SIX DAYS (for two day shipping ....) and I just can’t help but think how much stress I could have avoided if I had already had this waiting for me in the bathroom closet on the day she was diagnosed... I will be ordering replacement tips right away, as well. Just in case.I’m extremely happy with this purchase and really the only thing that could be better than this device/kit is if Lice Clinics of America would open a franchise somewhere in my state so I could leave the work up to them. :-)
