SentrySafe SFW205DPB Fire Safe, 2.05 cu ft, Gray

We purchased this safe to protect important documents (living will, trust, birth certificates, etc.). Our safe arrived on the specified date without damage. After following the instructions, the locking mechanism worked fine. I noted in the reviews that some people had issues and at first we did also. However after reading and following the instructions exactly, I have had no problems. Since we are not using the safe for other types of valuables, this is not an issue, but the instructions note that mechanical items (watches) should be stored in air tight containers as their is a high moisture level in the safe. Apparently this is because of the type of fireproofing. It also notes that item like pearls will be damaged at temperatures of 350 degrees, which is the rating of the safe. The safe was exactly what we were looking for - it provides an extra level of protection for important documents.

Arrived within a few days, no damage whatsoever. Very sturdy, well made, heavy. Better than expected for the price. Bolting down, was not that hard either. Accomplished with a power drill and rachet wrench.A worthwhile TIP from another reviewer; hold the handle up while moving the dial. Otherwise, it drags against the movement and sounds and feels like it will break. I hesitated to buy the old fashion dial method for this reason, hearing that in another review. It is no problem when you hold the handle up while moving the dial. Now I need not worry about changing batteries, or other malfunctions.

The safe has lived up to its billing. Has more room inside than I thought it would. Locks and unlocks well although the instructions were a little unclear on the locking mechanism. Hope it hold up if we have, heaven forbid, a fire.

only 3 years old and now will not open. will have to pay to get someone to cut into it to get our belongings out.Kept in a closet on a raised wooden base to allow air to circulate under it, Thinking that would extend the functionality

The safe came a week early. No dents, cracks or damage to the shipping container or safe. Locks and unlocks with no problem.

I purchased same safe from warehouse store and was very damaged had to return. 2 cubic safes hard to find with dial not digital. Digital requires batteries and after forgetting to change will corroid. Prefer old fashion dial with extra lock feature of a key.

Like the organization features inside. Order an extra drawer that was over priced, but completed the organization of all the internal space. Security is questionable. Combination dial is cheap plastic, is mounted crooked and hangs up when trying to spin it. The handle hangs up the spin dial and you have to make sure the handle is in the right orientation. Cheap, clunky mechanism. Ordered the spin dial to eliminate the battery with electronic locks. Had a similar spin dial Sentry Safe that we purchased several years ago that had a much better spin dial.
