Very gentile on my wooden floor
Bought these to replace the original wheels on a nearly new desk chair for my home office. The original wheels were binding and scratching my wooden floor. These new wheels glide and swivel effortlessly and, the silicone material used on the wheels are very gentile on the floor.

I needed to replace my original wheels on my Herman Miller Embody chair, they were started to wear down and we have moved to a place with hard wood floors and they started to marked the floor boards. The STEALTHO, were delivered quickly from the US to Australia, well packed, replacing the old for new took no time, unplug and plug the new one in! The roll really smoothly, no noise, they are a bit taller than my original which I like. Very pleased with the whole thing, they feel like a Quality product. I would buy these again but I honestly don’t think it will be for a while these will last!

Item was great. If only I knew about it before, I would have reduced the damage to my wood flooring.

I have a disability that makes it difficult to get around. I cant afford any of those special mobility products so I scoot around on an old office chair. Our whole house has tile flooring. and while I use the chair mostly in the kitchen (cooking, etc.)moving around like this gets to be a chore after a while because pulling forward puts a lot of strain on my lower back and knees. Going backward is fine except, well no matter the direction, my legs and back start to hurt terribly and getting over the wide grout joints that I inevitably get stuck in can be impossible without half standing and pulling the chair behind. Then the clunk, clunk, clunk sound and impact sending shockwaves up my spine, cuts short any activity I may be in the middle of. The other thing is the scraping sound of the plastic wheels on the beautiful finish on the glazed tiles leaves me in fear of making a gouge or breaking a wheel and possibly toppling over. OK enough of the back story here. One day on a whim, I did a search on replacement wheels for office chairs. I wasn't counting on getting a hit but when 100's of choices came up I was shocked. My girl-wife(?) wife-friend(?) significant something(?) something partner(?) shook her head and laughed because she knows that once again (like 100s of other times) I will be lost in "research" (web searches), entries in my notebook, head scratching, yammering on to her about the history of the product, asking her opinion, (which is always either "I don't care" or "whatever you decide or makes you happy.") then pulling the plug (hitting the enter key on the order. This is followed by what used to be days of anxiety, that feeling you get after leaving the car dealership with your new car. You did the research, you negotiated, you stood firm, you walked, went back and finally "pulled the plug." Now for hours of signing papers, detailing the car, doing whatever "secret stuff" car dealers do. Then you leave, confident that back at the dealership they're all high fiving, laughing, opening champagne, all because they can't believe they found someone to buy that 4 wheeled lemon. You are positive something is going to break on the drive home. The next few days you show it to your family, friends, coworkers and you're sure that they too are snickering and saying things like how they've "never seen such an ugly vehicle", "isn't that the worst rated vehicle ever?" , "I wouldn't take it for free...." etc. Anyway.......Thanks to Amazon, our wait is now (in my area anyway) only 2 days and many times just one. Here they are. I get the message on my phone that they are delivered and LOOK! Thats them leaning up against the wall next to the front door....MY WHEELS!!! So seriously. The package was absolutely beautiful and upon opening there is some papers describing the product and showing how easy it's going to be to put them on unless it's an Ikea chair. The ONLY chair they dont fit is IKEA. I"m pretty sue that if you bought an IKEA chair, your not the type to switch out the wheels on it. You know it's going to break long before the wheels show even a hint of wear (it may have broke while you were ordering the wheels just knowing too much was going tobe asked from it). so, back to the install I grab 2 sizes of screwdriver and pliers and a small pry bar and a pair of safety glasses. I turn over the chair and figure I'll give a wheel a good pull using just my fierce strength (did I say fierce? I crack myself up with that one) and with a great tug, I slam myself in the chin with the wheel never realizing that "hey..they weren't lying about the easy part. Each leg gave up it wheel freely and the new ones slipped in even easier. I turn the chair over and give it a solid push only to find it careening down the hall stopping only inches from a step down into the Florida room. I was thrilled to note the hardest part was turning over this 5 legged beast (which actually slid/fell the first 2 times then once more to right it. Here we go. First flight. The first thing I find is you better have a good grip on the arms while you slide you posterior onto the beast otherwise it WILL try to run out from under you, Especially on the hard smooth tile floor. Like a seasoned cowboy I gracefully (stop laughing) lower the chair a little and down I go. Hmmm. Despite lowering the chair a bit, I'm still sitting at the same height as previous because the wheels are taller than the original. With a slight push off with right foot I'm gliding back down the hall almost all the to where I started. Now the true test. Pulling forward. First, getting the wheels to turn 180 degrees was a bit clumsy. Notbecause of the wheels but because this is a challenge for any wheeled beastie. The key is not to push directly opposite the direction you were heading, but to perform a somewhat circular motion and all 5 wheels will then be redirected and off you go. Now, the effort required to pull forward is much greater than to puch backward and that is simply a matter of physics and body mechanics. It is however 50% easier than it was with the old wheels. I love them. I'm able to spend 25-50% more time wheeling around than before. It is a much gentler ride over the tiles with the hard rubber type wheels . I'm sure a lot of credit is due the excellent (seem so anyway) bearings in the wheels. No more clunk clunk but now a mostly inaudible passing over the grout lines with minimal jarring of my spine. Another good thing is now I can maneuver over the floor mat in front of the sink where before I had to roll it up because the chair would come to a sudden halt if trying to maneuver over it with the old wheels. Its been just a few days but I love, love, love these wheels. I can once again chase the dog and cat through the house. I hope you enjoyed my review and got a few laughs. Something we don't seem o be doing enough of these days. I truly love the wheels guys. I would not have put forth ANY effort to review them if I wasn't serious about the product. That would mean if I hated them I still would have taken the time to say that. Thanks Stealtho for making a difference and improving my life. With my disabilities, time is precious when everything you do takes so much longer than it does for others. Movement is crucial to staying active however movement equals pain so anything that helps with movement, lessens pain and or gives more time in your day is a blessing. Tony C

There are a lot of office chair castors using roller blade style wheels to choose from. They are essentially all the same and share all the same weaknesses, except these. The frame that carries the wheel is supported on the top and bottom with real caged thrust bearings riding on proper machined surfaces, this separates them from every other manufacturer in a big way. The other ones uses one row of lose balls riding on pressed steel races. Over time the pressed pivot pin gets looser and the lose balls end up falling out and ruining the castor, I've seen this happen on hundreds of office chairs and many times that again with castors using the same design for other applications. Between the time the pins get loose and the balls fall out you end up with a castor that won't turn when you try and move the chair, a real pain in the butt to say the least. These guys have eliminated the major failure point of every castor with the double thrust bearing design. It isn't revolutionary, this is the way thrust bearing should be used in an application like this. They also claim to use abec 9 wheel bearings, the 9 indicates that the bearing has very tight internal clearances between the balls and the races that they run. I can't imagine why they'd use these bearings, they are usually for high precision applications running at speeds of up to 30000 rpm. They are usually priced many, many times higher than a standard ball bearing so I can't say if these actually have them or not. I can feel resistance when I turn the wheel so they are tight. This is how they should be so don't expect them to spin freely. I read some review complaining that the wheels squeak or make noise. Don't be afraid to put some on the thrust bearings, just a couple drops top and bottom. They don't appear to be shipped with any grease or oil on them, likely done so it doesn't seep down onto carpets or floors and giving cause for bigger complaints. They are bearings, if they make noise oil them. These are by far the best office chair castor I've ever used, nothing else is even remotely close. The price tag is very reasonable considering what your getting compared to the other brands priced in the $30-$40 range. You get what you pay for in this case. If your not buying these just throw the first pair that you like the look of in your cart. The rest are all the same.
