Carl Barks!
The tile says it all. I grew up reading the Carl Barks Disney comics in the late '40's, early '50's. So this collection brought back many pleasant memories. His stories never talked down to his audience, and I leaned a lot from them as a kid. Loved the artwork as well. It was the golden age of comics for kids as far as I was concerned. Have acquired several of these collections.

Imaginatively Spectacular!
A volume with 14 stories covering all Bark’s famous duck character. This volume runs Donald and Co. on many imaginary adventures viz. through a valley of dinosaurs in the “Forbidden Valley”, battling human sized ants in “The Titanic Ants”, going round the world in 80 minutes (and stopping on every continent to grab a proof) in a rocket made by Gyro Gearloose, grabbing a stone in the “Wishing Stone Island” to be a millionaire overnight. Overall, this volume contains somewhat less of Bark’s stereotypical ending where Donald is, for most part, the loser. In fact, “Donald the Milkman” has a surprise ending! Nevertheless, titles like “The Half Baked baker”, “The Persistent Postman”, “The Tenderfoot Trap” represents typical Donald Duck affairs. The last one “Water Ski Race” is an apt funny ending to the volume where Donald despite winning the race fails to get a hand on the “prize”.In this volume, there are three stories with a three panel, two frame picture setup which differs from Barks’ traditional four panel, two frame style. There is plenty of food for thought for science lovers with supersonic rockets, utilizing steam power in “The Black Pearls of Tabu Yama”, creation of gigantic ants with scientific gadgets, playing with echos. Uncle scrooge and Gladstone appeared intermittently – with Uncle Scrooge getting the better of both Donald and Gladstone in the “Battle of the Echos” – even Gladstone’s luck couldn’t help him. With this one, the total volume count printed by Fantagraphics hits 15 which is midway through the 30 volume series. Congratulations to Fantagraphics for reaching the halfway mark and let’s hope they keep the good work going!

If you like Disney, and Donald Duck you will like these hardbound books by Carl Barks
I am a Disney Fan. I think the stories by Carl Barks are the best. Amazon has a collection of Carl Barks Donald Duck stories from when I was a child. Each book is a hardbound collection of stories by Carl Barks, they are well done.

Great stories by a Master Storyteller
Carl Barks was a artistic genius. His stories about Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, as well as Uncle Scrooge and Gladstone Gander were fun and interesting for both children and adults. The tales in this volume take the cast to various parts of the globe but most of the adventures take part in Duckburg. This would make a great Christmas gift for most children.

Fun and a Classic Too
I was able to read some of these old stories for the first time. I'm grateful that a complete collection is becoming available. I bought the Kindle version, which is easy to store and keep track of and doesn't get tattered.

More From the Good Duck Artist
Maybe it's just me getting older and my tastes have changed. Maybe now owning nearly 12,000 comics and graphic novels that I realize that I don't have to own every comic book ever made. Or maybe it's just because I really love Scrooge McDuck and his nephew Donald. All I know is when it comes to a book that just warms my soul, I'd much rather read the complete works of the legendary Carl Barks than just about anything new that comes out on comic book shop shelves. In this delightful volume, readers start off on a Pacific island adventure set during Christmas time with Scrooge Donald and Huey Dewey and Louie looking for the famed black pearls of Tabu Yama. The heartwarming ending is extremely predictable and yet this has immediately become one of my all-time favorite holiday reads to star the Ducks of Disney.Lucky duck cousin Gladstone appears in at least 3 stories in this book. First, he'll race Donald around the world in a rocket ship for a pair of dueling scientists. For the last 2 stories, Uncle Scrooge is added to the mix as both Gladstone and Donald attempt to convince the wealthy businessduck to buy their prospective investment properties. Then the trio compete against each other in a series of competitive burro events for the rights to a lucrative uranium mine For a character absolutely despised by Barks, he sure uses Gladstone Gander an awful lot.Readers are also introduced to a new rival of Donald Duck in the form of the literal swine, P.L. McBrine. First, McBrine unleashes a pickle shortage in Duckburg by releasing a parasite that feasts on cucumbers. Donald and his nephews head overseas to bring back a wasp that is known to feast on those invasive bugs. However, McBrine is on their trail in hopes of keeping the Ducks from succeeding so he can make a killing by selling pickled rutabagas!McBrine returns, now using the name McSwine as a customer scheming to take milkman Donald's job by making false complaints to the manager of the Duckburg dairy. Yet in an unexpected twist, Donald kinda snaps and exacts revenge on McBrine by issuing him his just desserts. As satisfying as it is to see Donald get the best of one of his foes with relish, it's no wonder that Disney and Dell passed on this story and was shelved for nearly 2 decades before being published in the Netherlands circa 1974.Almost 2 dozen tales of various lengths abound in this nearly 200 page collection, along with covers and commentary from noted Disney comic historians on each adventure.Such a delight. I don't care if these reproductions show biases and stereotypes. Well, I care, socially. It just doesn't bother me to see how far we've come from those days of yore. It's how we learn from the mistakes of history and with that, I can't wait to get my hands on more books in this oddly published series of Barks' complete Disney Duck works.

One of the best ones in the series.
Carl Barks was truly one of the most amazing authors in the history of comics. I've bought quite a few of the series, both Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck. Each were good, and some a tiny bit better than others. I find this very one the best one I've had so far. Delightful and creative stories with so much emotion. When you focus on how exaggerated all the reactions of the character are, you'll enjoy it even more. They don't make them like they used to. Carl was a gem. A must for every child growing up, and delightful for adults reliving their childhood memories with this.

Pura nostalgia
Abrir essa obra prima e ler a história do Pato Donald como carteiro me fez sentir até o cheiro de algumas décadas atrás. Barks nos transporta. O Vale Proibido com Porcolino Leitão é demais. Tudo vale a pena nesse volume. Agora esperar para ver quando a Fantagraphics vai publicar o próximo volume.

It's By The Duck-Man - So Of Course It's Great!
I've been reading and collecting Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comic books for decades now, and this hardcover collection proposing to collect the complete Carl Barks (artist/writer) collection of duck stories is by far the best - and most affordable. The old Carl Barks Library was good, but lacked colour. This volume and others within the set are all colour and all Barks! I can truly state that if it wasn't for the love adventure that Carl Barks instilled within me, I probably would not be a writer. At least I'm pretty sure the 900-odd Richie Rich comics I have didn't do it. Any parent can either read and enjoy for themselves, OR they can read it to their kids, or let them read it for themselves. The stories are timeless, full of adventure, and don't talk down to the kids. Ever. This book, and the others in the set, are worth every penny charged. Buy it! Enjoy it! Again and again!
