The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Black Calfskin, Journaling Bible)

I'm struck by the sweet, old-fashioned look of this Bible. Like a classic book, the cover is cloth-covered board. It's smaller than a "regular" Bible (see pictures- I added a quarter for perspective). The smaller size keeps the weight down, but look at the pictures to be certain the print is not too small for your comfort.Inside:This is not a study Bible. There's a few introductory pages at the front of the book. The back of the book includes an explanation of salvation, a short synopsis of every book of the Bible, and a one year reading plan.This Bible (as the title suggests) is designed for journaling. Each page features two columns of scripture accompanied by a column for writing (or art). The lines are faint... I had to get pretty close to try to capture them with the camera. They are small, narrow lines. I appreciate the faintness of the lines for the pages where I want to add artwork instead of just notes.The pages are still traditional-Bible-thin. I wouldn't paint without some kind of gesso (my opinion, your mileage may vary). You'll still need to consider carefully the mediums (pens, highlighters, etc.) you use if you don't want it to go through to the other page.I appreciate the cardboard slipcover. I feel like it would keep my journaling Bible safe in a tote bag if I wanted to be outside or on the road with it.Overall, it's simply charming. I feel inspired to start reading right away.

My bible I had been using since 2008 started falling apart, so I searched online for a new one. I love that this one is a wide-margined bible like my old one, and the fact that this one has lines for you’re notes is even better.I was nervous about getting one that has a stiff board cover, but it actually makes using this bible easier. When I’d put my old flexible one in my bag, it would slide all over the place and the pages would sometimes get creased. This one stays shut.When you lay it out on a table or your lap, it lays flat. The pages are thin like bible pages typically are, and I was concerned at first that it would be too see-through. But I can easily read the current page I’m on without the words from the other page obscuring it.I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Bible also includes a guide to verses by topic, a one year reading plan, and a description of each book of the Bible. It probably says something about these in the description, but I didn’t notice it! Glad it has them, though.Was also concerned about how inexpensive it is, but I’m satisfied with the quality. Thinking about getting it as a gift too.Really excited to continue using this bible and discover God’s word.

Great journaling Bible, exactly as described and what I expected. Great buy for the price and the perfect starter Bible for art journaling. I especially love that it lays flat to make it easier to illustrate the pages.

I don't understand the comments that this is a good journaling Bible. There's really no room for anything but some notes, but mainly the paper is so, so thin, even an ink pen bleeds through the page. Highlighters and journaling markers just bleed straight through and using journaling pencils doesn't work because of the thinness of the paper.There's no index or concordance. I love it because it's a Holy Bible but I really wish I'd not spent the money on what I thought was a journaling Bible. I don't spend money in myself often at all and really considered making this purchase before hand so I am disappointed.

This bible is so sweet and special. I am an NIV user and so this took some getting used to. The cover is soft and delicate but also sturdy. The pattern is pretty. The Bible is smaller than I’m used to, but I love that. Others complained about the small text size but it doesn’t bother me at all. The pages are thin so I am sure to use a ballpoint pen for notes (as opposed to felt tip) and gel highligters. The front portion of the Bible has a “What the Bible says about...” section which I used as a sort of guide and also a key for color coding subjects. I use washi tape in this bible and tabs. It is well worth the price. I have the beige-ivory with dark blue floral version and it’s exactly as pictured, arrived quickly, and in perfect condition. Happy journaling in the word!

Really like this bible! I originally wanted the interleaved version (full page of notes instead of just the columns, but it was on back order for so long that I decided to go with this version). I like that it's light enough to throw in my purse to bring to church. I have small handwriting and like to write quite a bit, so I like that the small lines can fit a lot of notes. However, there is unnecessary space dedicated to the margins which I find unnecessary and I Usually end up using it anyway (see photos). The pages are thin like most other bibles, so while there isn't actual bleed through, you can definitely see the writing on the backpage (see photos). Still a fan, though!

Very impressed with the quality of this Bible. A bit pricy, but worth it. Leather is absolutely wonderful, soft and flexible, not thin or flimsy. I really like the soft color of the pages, and the paper seems to accept notes and markings well. There is no avoiding some "ghosting" on opposite side of pages with any Bible, but this is probably better than most. I plan to use mostly colored pencil with minimal ink, and some pigment ink (for stamps), and washi tape - and the pages seem to handle these materials very well, especially without gesso or other page prep.

Nice workman like binding, like moleskin notebook. Cream smooth.paper. Some editions are slightly larger font but this wasn't. 7.5 plays 7.7 I think. I struggle with this font size and can't read it in artificial light ( middle aged eyes), but thought I'd give it a go as I want to make notes as I read. 4 stars because not 7.7 font but I wasn't able to tell from description.

I love this little Bible. It's a perfect size (compact and not too heavy -- it's not tiny either); the design on the front is BEAUTIFUL and so romantic -- just light blue flowers against a creamy linen background -- and reminds me of something from Sense & Sensibility; and I am LOVING the chance to write in my Bible. The beauty of the design and the space to write in this Bible has increased the time I spend reading the Bible by LEAPS and BOUNDS; so I've fallen in the love with the Bible's content too. :-)One thing: the pages are rather thin, so you can definitely see what you wrote on the one side when you flip to the other. You may be bothered by the lines/ink seen through the pages. But I love it so much that I'm buying one for a friend's birthday present. :-)

Beautiful. It's hard to enhance God's word, but this is a beautifully made. The text is quite small, but can still be easily read.

The only thing I didn't like about this bible was the price and I figured because I would use it everyday it would be worth it. It's lovely to use and write it and does feel very special, although the soft leather does mark very easily I don't mind the worn look that this bible will have over the many years I hope to use it.

Great price and good quality bible print a bit small for ne but he my wife has better eye sight than me so all good.

The Bile is well made but for me and age the print are very small

I bought this bible for my daughter and she loves it.

I bought this for two reasons. One because I had a hard time reading the smaller print in my other bible and secondly I can take notes or make comments on the sides of each page. Lovely!
